Gig of the fortnight is... Crystal Stilts

Uzi And AriWhere and When?
Whelan's (Upstairs), Dublin - 19/02
Lavery's Bunker, Belfast - 20/02

Why?

Yet another indie band with the word "Crystal" in their name.  Crystal Stilts were formed 6 years ago in Brooklyn but it was only last year that they released their debut album Alight Of Night.  Most of their press photos make the band look like some of them are really into Velvet Underground.  A cursory listen to their rough and ready sounding reverby pop tunes might lead you to the same conclusion, and that is no bad thing.

Best of the rest

Amusement Parks On FireWho? Villagers
Where and When?

Cyprus Ave, Cork – 17/02
Spirit Store, Dundalk – 20/02
Crawdaddy, Dublin – 21/02
The Stables, Mullingar – 28/02

Not wishing to pile too much pressure onto Conor O'Brien but if some members of the press are to be believed if his new project isn't drop to your knees at it's awesomeness great then the ex-Immediate guitarist is going to be responsible for the death of the domestic music industry.  So no pressure or nuthin' on a guy whose new band probably hasn't even played a dozen gigs yet.

Poor bugger.

On the plus side his songs are really quite good.

Also this fortnight
