This is an excellent record in my view, one of the year's best. Worryingly, the Fleetwood Mac comparisons aren't just a Rumour, (see what I did there?) yet the quality of the songs is such that a tendency to put two wheels of their wagon on either side of the middle of the road doesn't incur them the usual penalty points. See you up the front on 3/11, Unkle M?

Yeah great album, one that didn't seem to get alot of attention when it came out. Is the gig on in TBMC or The Village?

interesting - I only got to listen to this album for the first time this weekend and though I didn't immediately think of the 'mac I got the same 70's AM rock feel (BTW 'rumours' is a fine record). it reminds me a lot of sufjan too.

I like this midlake album a lot.

This was my album of the year for 2006. It hasn't left my cd changer since I got it.

It took me a while to get into this album but I really like it now. I think the Electric Picnic line-up is good but you are right about some of their choices. Some bands that should be playing at Electriic Picnic:

Midlake
Band of Horses (just finished their second album and are touring with Modest Mouse anyway)
Battles
Grizzly Bear
Built to Spill
Wolf Parade
Handsome Furs
Sunset Rubdown
Menomena
Annuals

The list could go on.

Battles and Hasndsome Furs are doing their own gigs here. Wolf Parade are, I think, on tour in the States in Spetember.

Built to Spill have never played a gig here which is a shame.

I think Built to Spill supported Foo Fighters somewhere in Dublin in the mid-90's.

That information is in my head... I'm not sure how, but I don't think I made it up!

When are Battles playing here? I only got to see 1/2 their gig in Barcelona because the people I was with wanted to go home.

Band of Horses are amazing live (a lot heavier than the album) and the album is a grower!

I was just commenting that I think that these are the type of bands that should be invited to EP. Along with My Morning Jacket!

Battles are August 24th in Tripod. I'm enjoying that Band Of Horses album, a nice mix of My Morning Jacket and The Flaming Lips to my ears.

Brilliant! I don't see any info on ticketmaster or Aiken. When do the tickets go on sale? Bollox, I mightn't be in the country. (sorry about the stream of consciousness)
