Bit of a serious blast from the past, but like most people I missed these 80s early pre-nirvana indie bands the first time round. Heard the track "Cast a Shadow", such a great song that I had to seek out the album "black candy" that it's taken from.

Anyone else a fan?

...the only song i still own is indian summer on some compilation i've got...

so, can't really say i was a fan... but they were pretty good, weren't they?

I do know Calvin Johnson founded K records and that they had a big influence on Galaxie 500 and, later, Luna. Which is good enough for me.

Funnily enough, thats the exact path I've been sort of following back, discovered Luna for the first time a few years back when they released one of their last albums "Romantica" which isn't a brilliant album but still very enjoyable, discovering Luna leads inevitably to Galaxie 500 etc.

Oooh, if you're checking out Luna, look no further than 'Penthouse'. Galaxie 500 only ever released 3 albums but 'On Fire' is miles ahead. Gorgeous record.

Luna are a band I've known for a couple of years now, but I only got round to purchasing "Penthouse" last month, and do you know what the worst bit is?

I haven't gotten round to sitting down and listening to it properly

*cringe*
