Hi Guys, I was at a Chris Rea concert in Dublin the other night (brought to it as a stand in for my uncle who couldn't make it!!) However, turned out to be a great night. The support act was a guy from Derry called Paul Casey. Never heard of him to be honest but as I play a bit of guitar myself I was absolutely blown away by his guitar playing and songs. I actually bought his cd called 'Songs in Open tuning' at the foyer. I have to say it is the best album I've heard in a few years and I have spent all weekend listening to it. I found this site by doing a search on him on google. I think it is my duty to inform people of this hidden gem. I haven't been this enthused about an album since I heard Oasis's definitely maybe! I even phoned hotpress to find out if they had heard about him and they said they had already done a review on the album and Jackie Hayden had given it 9/10. Must have missed that months mag!

note to moderator - there must be some way to ensure that new posters can't blatantly plug acts they're involved in like this. after all, who in their right mind quotes jackie hayden/hot piss reviews??

More importantly, did Chris Rea play "Driving Home for Christmas"?

Pichard, Sorry for expressing my views so blatently. If you wish you can delete the above post. Sorry I read hotpress and have offended your superior musical intelligence. I have absolutely no connection with the aforementioned artist, I am just surprised as I never heard of him and done a search of reviews for him and I found this website, registered and posted, but hey if you don't want to discuss music or such, you obviously do not know the meaning of 'soap box'. Bonzo, as for Chris Rea, I was actually surprised that I knew some of his songs! It was a very bluesy performance, however I think most of his fans didn't appreciate the gig as it was full of blues music. He didn't play the christmas song but the guy can fairly play a guitar. Ps Sorry for plugging Oasis too.

'I think most of his fans didn't appreciate the gig as it was full of blues music'. You would think that the crowd going to this gig would have expected alot of blues music, especially since Rea released 11 albums of blues music on his last 'Blue Guitars' release. That was his last gig abroad too (apparently anyhow).

I think they were expecting all his old songs as it was a farewell tour. It was his last gig playing as Chris Rea. I don't think he is touring with his new band though due to ill health.
