Pivot, an experimental (read LOUD) instrumental 3-piece, have been selected by Sigur Ros to support their latest tour (see the CLUAS review of Sigur Ros' latest album here). Pivot's second and latest album, O Soundtrack my Heart, has got an international release and has been getting great reviews so it's time CLUAS learned a little more about them. The album was was recorded in Chicago and mixed by John McEntire of Tortoise. It's a beguiling mix of driving guitar, with complex dance rhythms a la Cluas favourites, Battles or even LCD Soundsystem but played on real instruments.
If you like instrumental music that sounds great with headphones, give them a try. To whet the appetite for those of you with Sigur Ros tickets, here's Pivot playing In The Blood live in London earlier this year.
