Where and When? Whelan's, Dublin - 13th August Why? The last time Matthew Hart was in the country he was opening for the rather wonderful Caribou. This time around the Canadian (aren't they all these days) gets to headline and showcase his melding of lo-fi electronica, hip-hop and pop to full effect. Support comes from Jape and DJ Kool Drool.

Who? Castlepalooza Where and When? Charleville Castle, Tullamore - 5th and 6th August One of the big 2 promoters is putting on a fairly unappealing event for the August bank holiday so it's up to the independents to come up with something decent. As it turns out there are 2 pretty attractive looking festivals happening that weekend. First up is Castlepalooza in Tullamore. Featuring some of the best bands in the country Charleville Castle will play host to Delorentos, Republic Of Loose, Neosupervital and many others.

Who? Le Cheile Where and When? Oldcastle, Co. Meath - 4th-7th August Featuring many of the same acts playing Castlepalooza but spread over 4 days Le Cheile is now in it's 9th year and this year's incarnation boasts the most impressive lineup in it's history. Rather than seeling tickets for the entire weekend the festival is taking the unusual step of allowing attendees to pick and choose which events they want to go to.
