Is this another case of MCD booking an artist for a gig just so Aiken can't book them for Electric Picnic?

According to their myspace Digitalism are playing Marley Park on the 15th so that would mean that they are supporting Faithless and not Daft Punk.

Daft Punk are apparently only playing 10 or so shows worldwide this year. They were by far the highlight of the weekend at Coachella in April. If Marlay park turns out to be true, expect a *lot* of overseas interest in the tickets.

more MCD offering a daft amount of cash for the show. EP were after them as well but either the Marley Park date suited them better or (more likely) the cash offer was more tempting to daft punk's agent.

there's no f**king way EP could afford to book Daft Punk. Anyway, who cares who they're playing for? It's going to be a brilliant gig. My mate saw them @ Coachella and hasn't shut up about it since. Can't wait!

I didn't catch all of the set at Coachella but it was pretty amazing. Their stage/light show is one of the best I've ever seen. It's kind of a truncated pyramid with them on top and the whole pyramid lights up. It's v.cool. The bootleg is floating around too. Worth listening to.

Would Daft Punk cost much more than Kraftwerk?

i would imagine they would (cost more that Kraftwerk) I've heard some of the figures EP have had to pay for so-called 'MCD' acts this year and they are mental. Given that they probably don't have much of a budget left for booking acts at this late stage, I doubt they could've afforded it. Especially considering all the headliners have been announced. It is a pity in one way, because Daft Punk would be a great way to end Electric Picnic, or even headline on one of the days, but I don't particulaly mind as long as they play in Ireland this year and I'm around to see them.

That's just incredible. Utterly and completely mindlowingly brilliant.Does anything else compare to that? Nothing! Pity they're not playing EP, they would have been this year's 'Kraftwerk' if you catch my drift. Still roll on Marley Park.

I'm somewhat baffled by all this Daft Punk love, the "One More Time" dudes right? French robot fellas? To each their own I guess but personally were they playing in my house I'd go to bed and try to get some shut eye. *slaps thigh at own wittiness* Then again I'd have said the same thing of LCD Soundsystem pre-last year's EP and enjoyed them immensely, still can't listen to the album in full though.

Before Unicrons reply I was thinking the same thing. As much as Around the World for example is a great tune, what is it performed live? What is the live performance of this stuff apart from great visuals and a remix version? To me it seems its the equivalent of watching a singer miming to a backing track. So do they actually do anything on stage, is the track pretty much a question of pressing play and then twiddling a few knobs to make a few on the fly changes and then hands in the air to get the crowd going?(before anyone goes mad I acknowledge this view may be totally wrong here and maybe they do alot of stuff on those decks so if they do please explain)

If they're doing it live I'd imagine that they've got all the various parts on laptops recorded as samples and they mess about with them using something like Ableton Live. I've got limited experience using it and it's lots of fun and you can get some really geat stuff out of it. I've got no problem with it not being actual instruments, I just don't think the music is all that special.

I reckon track for track LCD Soundsytem's debut was one of the top five albums of last year, and if you include the bonus disc of early singles like Losing My Edge and Yeah then I reckon it probably contained more quality tunes than any album released last year.

The bonus disc, and those 2 songs in particular is the thing that makes that album in any way worthwhile for me.
