It's not officially confirmed as their website won't be updated until April 20th, but rumour goes that tickets for the Bud Rising Festival are on sale from Ticketmaster outlets tomorrow morning. Last year had some good acts and this year seems to be the same with: - British Sea Power (support from Sons And Daughters) - Echo & The Bunnymen - The Engineers - Masters At Work - Monoband - Roots Manuva - Stephen Fretwell - The Departure (support from The Editors) - The Duke Spirit (support from VHS or Beta) - The Magic Numbers (support from Joe Chester and Jessie & Layla) - Towers Of London - Whitey - Weezer - Beck It seems to be that Whelan's, The Village and Crawdaddy will be the main venues being occupied during this festival in June. Beck, while not fully confirmed, is rumoured to be playing the Olympia on June 6th while Weezer will play their debut Irish show in Vicar Street on June 7th. Some good acts to catch this year. www.budrising.ie

They should do like a golden ticket thing which lets you into all the gigs. Say €50 for a ticket to see as many bands as you want over the days. I want to go to gigs on 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th from that bill, so gonna be alot of cash.

you could just buy that Ocean Colour Scene 4 gig ticket for 49 million euro, or whatever ridiculous amount it costs. PLus, you just get to see the same band 4 times, which is obviously better

I suppose it is...maybe you are right. Think I'll just get as many tickets as I can. Defintely 'The Magic Number', 'Weezer' and 'Beck' with maybe's over 'Stephen Fretwell' and 'Duke Spirit'. The gigs are starting to pile up now.

Let's all bow down and worship the drinks companies for the music festivals they bring for us. You make us feel better! You give us great courage and the ability to chat up members of the opposite sex! You bring music and great bands to us! You make us sick! Heineken, Guinness, Bud....Thank You!!! Corporations rule!

Anyone know how quickly weezer sold out this morning? I've got a ticket for Fretwell and for Buck 65, both are great value for a tenner, I like Beck but I don't €40 like him. Same goes for Jimmy Cliff for 30 bills.

I got tickets for Weezer and Beck. Apparently Weezer was sold out in half an hour, I was stuck in traffic during that time. But the girl behind the desk had two extra tickets so I was lucky - cheers if she reads this. Might get Magic Numbers and Stephen Fretwell during the week.

Im really looking forward to Jimmy Cliff actually, havent seen him before. A couple of lads from work saw him at The Vilage last time out and said he was awesome. Could be a better venue for him too at The Ambassador.

The new British Sea Power album 'Open Season' is good, a real grower but worth a few listens. I wouldn't ignore them though. Not sure about the Aiken thing.

I never knew The Kills were playing, hopefully they play Oxegen aswell. But I'd go for: - Weezer - Beck - Magic Numbers - Stephen Fretwell - Duke Spirit

I don't get why Weezer are playing Vicar St, they should be in the olympia. Then again, the sound is better in VS.

There's a massive thread dedicated to the Weezer gig over on thumped, someone suggested that Aiken thought Weezer weren't big enough and would struggle to sell a large number of tickets. Aiken are obviously idiots.

How big do you reckon they could have gone? Olympia definately, the point perhaps (first ever Irish gig and all, although had they the gig could well have been poo). Actually this is happening during the summer, Dublin Castle?

no, not the Point at all, they couldn't fill it, especially with so many gigs coinciding with them. But, I reckon the could've stuffed the Olympia easily. I'd imagine it's something to do with the promotion allocation rather than an imagined attendance/capacity. Yeah, Green Energy Dublin Castle muck is happening: Paddy Casey, Black Eyed Peas, Faithless. Good lord.

yeah, ive always gone to the Heineken Green Energy from the very first one, god I remember seeing Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros @ The Olympia the first year, f**king electric so it was ! best gig ever ! Morrissey @ Dublin Castle last year was another highlight. This year is total s**te altogether !!!

yeah, one night i saw the white stripes and evan dando in one night in different venues. great night so it was. the heineken green energy schtick is old now... its for office workers who want to get pissed. the bud rising is a little better it seems, but again - the big acts won't allow local support on the the gigs so that doesn't help out local bands very much...

yeah, I get it, but I reckon the promoters aren't really thinking about that point. There's a bud rising band comp if anyone's interested Early Riser This year’s BudRising festival takes place in Dublin from June 1 to June 7. Throughout the week, there will be a variety of established and not-so-established international acts playing – with up to 11 gigs a night across 23 venues. As part of the festival, new Irish bands can get a chance to play on a number of stages – from outdoor shows to high-profile support slots – by entering the EarlyRiser new band competition. To enter, simply send a CD with no more than four original songs plus a brief biog to EarlyRiser, PO Box 7808, Dublin 2 before Thursday May 10. Selections will be made by a panel of industry figures and winners will be notified by May 20. How do I enter? Send a CD with three original tracks to the address below. No covers! Please include a short biography and a photo if you want. Correct contact details (mobile, landline and e-mail) are also necessary. All entrants must be available to play between June 1 2005 and June 7 2005 inclusive. Where do I send it to? EarlyRiser, PO Box 7808 Dublin 2. To ensure you CD arrives safe and sound, please send it in a padded envelope. Please note: CDs cannot be returned. When is the closing date? May 10, 2005. Who are the judges? A panel of music industry figures will make the decision – and their decision is final! How will I know if I’m a winner? All entrants will be notified regardless of whether they are winners or not. Winners will be announced on the BudRising website and in national media. Good luck!

If you haven't seen Rahzel, do. He does human beatbox like no one else. He can do drums, bass and rappin, all at the same time. He's genius. Roots Manuva, the best London hip hop act of the last few yrs, well before Dizzee and the Streets. He did a really weird and excellent cover of Yellow Submarine. It'll be interestin to see the La's after all these yrs too. I still listen to their album a lot after all these yrs, they were doin it well before the Coral and the Zutons came along.
