The Whip - X Marks Destination Slightly disappointing in that I thought it'd up there with the quality of Does It Offend You, Yeah?'s album. It's not, but it's still great stuff.

Elbow's "Seldom Seen Kid", though I still have to get past the stage of hitting the repeat button on the title track.. what a tune - riff of the year so far.

Like Mika, only good. True - a mate of mine was involved in their management team so he introduced me to them a good while back. They really are fantastic. Saw them in a club in London last month and they were top notch. Played a 15 minute set that had more fun, enthusiasm and all-out-energy than most bands pack into an hour long set.

Digging Efterklang at the moment, blissful soundscapes from Denmark. Also really like the new Neon Neon record, with Gruff Rhys from the Super Furries on it. Yeasayer's 'All Hours Cymbals' still stands up, great record. Has anyone heard the new Portishead album, 'Third'? Absolutely fantastic, thankfully not a rehash of past glories.

Vampire Weekend - finally got to listen to it and after one spin I love it Three 'meh' albums, not bad but nothing new or daring or different: Nick Cave 'Dig Lazarus Dig' Supergrass 'Diamond Hoo Ha' Goldfrapp 'Seventh Tree' Debut albums by two French bands: The Do (great sound ruined by whiny singer) and Poney Express (nice folk-pop tunes) I've been reading Simon Reynold's excellent 'Rip It Up And Start Again' (about post-punk), so that has inspired me to listen to albums he featured: - the first Public Image Ltd album - wow!!! It ROCKS!! (Both Kevin Shields and The Edge should be paying royalties to Keith Levene) - the first Roxy Music album: peacock-swagger-tastically, feather-boa-wearingly brilliant!!!! - 'Fear Of Music' by Talking Heads: not as irritating as I thought it would be - 'Colossal Youth' by Young Marble Giants: strange and quiet (no drums), I need to listen to it again but there's something odd and compelling about it...

Yeah, the M83 album is amazing. Think Tears For Fears crossed with My Bloody Valentine with a dash of cheesy eighties rock. On paper it sounds terrible and it shouldn't work but it does, and does brilliantly. Pure genius.

Love how this has that free wheeling feel to it, like it's almost about to fall apart, but never does. Reminds of the best stuff from Dylan or Neil Young. Has anybody listened to the new Stephen Malkmus album, real emotional trash? Are any of his solo albums worth checking out as well?

I've been listening to Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain a lot recently. It is such a fantastic album. I've also been listening to Ask for Directions by Brian Cullen's Love Bullets and Tales from the Silversleeve by Cathy Davey.

Aidan - Great video for The Architect, as always. Can't decide which is my favourite track, changes with every listen. Eternal Woman, Is A Robot, When She Comes Down, Popular Culture... Been ages since I've been so excited about an album. Getting tired of waiting for an Irish gig to be announced!
