I agree with Petridis - you could imagine this year's best albums (St Vincent, The Antlers, Grizzly Bear...) not sounding out of place in 2000 - or even earlier. And Daft Punk's 'Discovery' still seems to be setting the agenda for chart electronica/dancefloor/R n'B.
Simon Reynolds has a great point re: how the blogosphere might have made the music community more diffuse and fragmented rather than bringing us together as a global family. Still, it seems the overwhelming consensus is for 'Funeral' as the best/most important album of the '00s.
