Do you not think that it won't be long before EP is as mainstream and generic as Oxegen? I absolutely loved EP last year, it was so chilled and loadsa fun, but the first year it was one day, then two and now 3 this year... I think with a limited amount of tickets you get a crowd that are up for it for the music, when it becomes bigger is it possible that it will go down the slippery slope and attract the types that just like getting drunk in a field, wearing novelty hats and falling over in general?

Yep it could go like that. But it's on in August when most of the kids are in school or barraging students away on J1's. You'll just have to get your ticket and make the best out of it. If it's anything like last year then it should be a cracking long weekend.

i really think it comes down to the acts. Everyone on Cluas may think that Arcade Fire are the best thing since smokey bacon but i'd say very few Oxegen hardchaws have ever heard of them hence why they didnt bother to go to EP. Remember that "Funeral" has still not sold gazillions of copies so it didnt have that crowd. With EP, the acts and the vibes pull in music fans who lost their festival virginity at Feile or Glastonbury etc. With Oxegen, the main bulk of fans are attending a festival for a 1st time. What might change EP is if they booked different acts. Going on what i've heard already, i'd say this year will probably attract much the same crowd demographic as last year. Though i did hear a worrying rumour that the frames had confirmed an appearance at EP. Hope thats not true - couldnt deal with them and their awful fans. Still, at least we'd know then who was going to be 2006's james blunt

What's the deal with the Oxegen line-up having so many of the same acts from last year? James Brown, Kaiser Chiefs, Magic Numbers - Are people just paying to see the exact same setlist as last year?

To some degree it's a reflection in the influence Oxegen has on it's audience. It can be a huge chance for a band to reach a new audience and if a band impresses one year it stands to reason that through word of mouth or however they'll become more popular and be in line for coming back and playing a bigger stage. Take the Killers for example, they played a very impressive set on the new band stage in 2004, a year later they're back on the main stage.

Editors, The Go Team! and Eels for the Saturday of Oxegen. A one day ticket might be worth purchasing.

Can I go out on a limb here, and ask for a cease & disist order regarding Oxegen & Electric Picnic. If you dont like the Oxe bands, thats fine. If you dont like the E.P. bands, thats fine. There are way too many slagging posts of the last while. It seems to me, that everyone has their colours nailed to one of the Festivals. As was posted in the EP thread, the promoters are going after two different audiences. Nothing wrong with that.

Why would a jurno touch on it, they don't want to loose their press passes for the gig, ( or any gig) if they step out of line and say anything bad about MCD
