Bit dreary, I thought. They kept her voice pretty low in the mix (is she self concious?), so rather than hearing her sing you just sort of got a sense of her, maybe that was the point. The crowd seemed receptive but I swear, half of them woke up during that big feedback squeel during I've Been Loving You Too Long. Even Satisfaction didn't get anyone dancing.

The band were alright, a bit overpowering.

I left for the bar about three-quarters of the way through and it sounded like it picked up a bit from the speakers piping the music in, so maybe I missed the best bit. Any thoughts?

Hey Peejay, yeah it wasn't spectacular but it was a completely different gig from when I saw her play in Melbourne in 2003. That was so incredibly overindulgent, boring and she was rather obnoxious. She really has had a complete change in personality, which is definitely a good thing. But I didn't do more than nod my head a bit on this occasion, felt like there were a million covers and I didn't hear anything from You Are Free, which is my personal fave. Wasn't expecting to see Judah Bauer from the Blues Explosion on guitar.

Yeah, I was thinking last night, with such a subtle voice it would be better suited to a smaller venue and a more piano based band. But then again, maybe not.

Shocking show. Left after 40 minutes. Only my newly found powers of endurance kept me there that long. New York New York was getting on for the worst thing ever
