€52(not including booking fee) - give me a f**king break, that's practically the price of a one-day festival ticket.

and yet you know there'll be thousands who'll cough up the readies for this
we are after all one of the most fertile grounds for the likes of robbie williams, springsteen, the chillis, etc
they're guaranteed a sellout for small/medium venues or near sellout for the larger venues - quids in

Not a big surprise really, the demand is there, they know they'll sell it out at that price. They're a massive band at this stage in the public eye and apparently headlining one of the nights at Glastonbury next year.

Every year Michael Eavis tries to get the Stones Roses to reform. Every single year! and every single year the rumours start, "mani seen in pub with ian brown."
Glastonbury is seriously the most fun you could possibly have in five days. Incredible festival

Saw Roger Waters at Glasto bout 5 years ago or so. It pissed rain while he sat down, drank tea and played cards with the other band members on stage.
Seriously though, Glastonbury is the greatest place on earth and I advise everyone who reads this to try and get there next year. Ive been to 6 of them now and you will never find a more friendly, relaxed, communal, happy place on the planet than Glastonbury.

They need to make some cash though, if when you were young is any indication they're probably handing all the publishing from the new album over to Springsteen.
If not they should be.

Nonsense......NONSENSE. This type of thing really gets on my nerves.
Maybe you could justify a hike in ticket prices for a smaller, more intimate gig (Neil Young in Vicar St was €100...still over-priced). But to pay that much for an artist who's (no doubt) doing an oldies show in a huge venue like the Point. Complete nonsense.
A Dolly Parton gig might not seem important. But if this show sells out, it'll only show the promoters and artists how much robbery they can get away with.
Guys, don't pay these ridiculous ticket prices. I know its easier said than done, but its getting way out of hand.

Speaking of ticket prices, 3.80 service charge on each ticket for Jeff Tweedy! Thats 7.60 extra! I presume it goes up for higher priced tickets? How much would it be for Dolly Parton!

Yeah, thats another scam. Handling charge? Printing off a ticket and sticking it an envelope. As you sau, thats 3.80 PER ticket. Bulls**t. Luckily some of the local music shops have more sense. I try and avoid ticketmaster as much as possible.

For Parton they've also thrown in an 'oversized mammary' service charge: €4.50 x 2. Rip-off! Ridiculous.

You've got to be kidding!? Actually, don't think '!?' voices my incredulousness enough. What is the capacity of the RDS? I can only assume the same 60,000 morons who keep the Chilli Peppers fully stocked with ivory back scratchers each year here are also Killers devotees? OK, the have a few catchy tunes but c'mon! My mind is boggling good and proper now.

So why don't we do something instead of complaiining? Do you think its possible that an organised email campaign or online petition to Ticketmaster would give them a much needed kick up the arse?
Seriously, lets attempt a boycott? The minute one of these shows doesn't sell out Ticketmaster have a problem. Easiest business in Ireland to run unless demand took a nosedive. TM's whole business model is based on selling out gigs, empty seats and venues is just not an option and can completely screw up their year.
I think we (ie cluas readers) can start to make that change.

but ticketmaster don't set ticket prices they just sell them for a stupid service charge, I always think they take too much of a bad rap. I do agree with a campaign against ticket prices though, its badly needed.

In ten years time, RHCP will be no more having succumbed to the first recorded case of Athlete's Mickey, a little known but deadly fungal variant picked up from wearing dirtly socks on their crotchal area.
I too dream...

Start of April.
It's pure luck if you get them. I spent four hours trying to get through online and the umpteenth attempt it worked.
However, if you don't get a ticket there are plenty of resales in the months leading up the festival.
Incredible festival

It SEEMS fairly ok to get blags for Glasto once you give them enough notice. The media room is massive and there is a huge media presence as well as guest list.
Just judging by the amount of reporters etc they don't seem too tight with press passes.
Q magazine does a daily paper from the site. I'd start making enquiries now though as it closes a few months before the festival.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Robbie Williams in Phoenix Park the biggest gig ever staged in this country? They sold 135,000 tickets for that one.
And by the way Dolly Parton sold out within a matter of hours.

I've blagged my way backstage there before, but I had to buy an ordinary ticket first which basically got me shorter beer ques, a handy shortcut across the festival site and the discovery that Cat Deeley isn't as pretty when she's not on the telly.

The Killers are s**t. To paraphrase Bill Hicks, anyone dumb enough to want to go to The Killers should be encouraged to go. That should be the only requirement necessary. They are a boyband with all the bland tokenistic market detail that genre thrives on.
Go and buy the new Director, Humanzi, the Blizzards, The Immediate, Julie Feeney, David Kitt, Ann Scott, The Mighty Stef albums. All very fine records in their own way. All at least made by artists who care about their music and their audience.
And if you still want a killer rock n' roll record, the country's bargain bins are full of Jerry Lee Lewis best of's, for the same price as a bag of chips, that will keep you rockin' forever!

C'mon how exactly have any of those bands proved they care about music or their audience in a way that The Killers don't??? Just because they haven't had the same level of success yet and maybe never will? For all the backlash I still like Hot Fuss and even though I haven't listened to all of those artist/bands albums I am willing to bet its better than any of their debuts.

Its only the Main Hall in the RDS, holds about 5-6,000. So no surprise when it sells out.
