Man, we've all been here before but i think it's worth reitterating. The Village is a sh*t venue that puts on some great bands. It's confounding how badly the place was designed. Even before, when it was Mono and whatever the hell it was called before that it was pretty good upstairs. What do ye say about all chippin' in a few quid (or mature SSIAs) and buying a place to turn into our dream venue? Eh? I'll look after the cash because i know you'll want to focus your energies on the aesthetics?

Never been upstairs in The Village. Is there a bar up there? And is it not VIP or some s**t like that?

there is a bar. Maybe it is VIP, I don't know. If you get guestlist you get to go up, but sometimes you can just blag it. Think I've only been at one or two Village gigs downstairs and yes, it sucks, I've always just headed upstairs instead. Easy solution.

The village was the mean fiddler back in the day used to be a great indie pub downstairs, the only bands that suit it are singer songwriters, saw ray lamontagne and it was savagae, but its not the place for bands like CYHSY, its so badly desighed, its af**kin fire hazard waiting to happen!!!!!!!!

I've been upstairs in the Village for one gig, ok its a good view and all but up there you are as much a spectator of the crowd as you are of the band and that feels like an extra level of separation. It might be ok for quieter bands or singer songwriters etc. but for indie rock I'd rather be in the thick of things up the front.

Dont like the Village myself but i went to Mudhoney there last year and it was my gig of the year, i think its because they turned evrything up to 11 and rocked, anyone that was there knows what i mean, totally amazing.

Upstairs at the village is as about as much fun as upstairs at the point. At least in the Point you don't get to her: "loike ya, we're upstairs, Vip. Sure doesn't matter if its s**te loike, we'll tell everyone else it was great, ya, because its vip." The mean fiddler was a great pub, then they changed it to Mono which had the odd decent gig before turning into the indie equivalent of Flannerys

I never said an indie equivalent of Flannerys was a bad thing :) Personally I love R.O.C.K IN THE U.S.A and Come on Eileen
