Just heard that Jenny Lindfors has been added to the Jove gig in the Olympia. This is just a personal view on my musical taste but am starting to become more then a little impressed at the line up. A mate has also said that its being watched with caution from various industry heads to see if it will work in order to perhaps have future "unsigned acts" shows. so who is tagging along? can it work?

I'll more than likely be reviewing this gig. Really good line-up. Hopefully it attracts a large crowd.

I've no idea of costs, but it is venue that should/could be used more often by local acts. I remember seeing Tyco Brahe play a Midnight show, & it was pretty cool. I liked the idea of meeting my friends first then going to a gig, as opposed to leaving a venue after 11 & letting a bouncer decide if I can meet up with friends or not.

Have done some PR work within the olympia for bands in my past life and am guestimating here but i reckon this is probably costing jove close to 5 figures. I for one am excited about the prospect of seeing these bands on that level and how they perform and cope with the night. I hope they pull a crowd as I think Mully said it in a way and so did you flipper with your thread, if it worked it may well open up more doors for Irish Acts and promoters. Yes i'm going and so is me missus though she does not know it yet!!!

I think it's about €15 to get in on the night which is pretty decent a price if I'm right. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm not....

Hi all Yes we've added Jenny to the bill. We were talking about the night etc etc and kinda went .."oh f**k, we've no female representation on the bill" with the exception of the Alphastates Katherine, so we thought it was important to bring in a female act and we think she is great too. "Illyad" your fairly spot on, its 14:50 standing and 17:50 seated including booking fee. We are going to go for a 7:45 door time with first act on about 7:50. Four weeks today... a few nerves but sure would not be normal if there were not, hope as many of you can make it as possible. Cheers Jove

Hey Mutch.... not done it yet!!!! Gig is Saturday March 19th! We never really thought we dont need hype and am sorry for being silent on this recently but i just think the room had enough of the whole debate and wanted to stay away from it. We need and have been getting press but could do with some more on this night in question. To be honest I think, forgetting about Jove for a minute, that the acts on the night themselves give people a real choice as regards music tastes. They are all different acts in my opinion and each with their own style. I believe that whether there are 160 people there or 1600 it will be a super night and people in the Industry ARE watching this, in particular promoters and Industry heads. If it works then ,maybe, we will have achieved what we are trying to do, stage an event independent of music promoters with the hope that we can unlock some avenues for future events like this and that, just perhaps, promoters of note might stage maybe two a year in a high profile venue, doesn't have to be the Olympia, but just that they take more notice. Two other things for you. (1) Alison Curtis is going to MC the night (2) Please come!!! Thanks for reading Later Jove

I thought it was a great night. Very good crowd. I missed the first act but really enjoyed Delorantos. Some very catchy guitar licks and memorible hooks. It is rare to see two really strong singers in a band . I would say they will get snapped up faily soon because the music is really "now" and they have the look too (preppy cool thang). I love the 66e and really enjoyed the set. They even played a couple of new songs which came off very well. I never liked Alphastates just not my thing i guess. I really enjoyed Jove's set someone here said they where like Muse mixed with melaton and that is spot on. The singer has a great voice and holds your attention like a front man should. The sound is very layered with three guitarists, strings, keyboard etc etc and thats alot to take in. I would imagine Jove are a bit of a "grower". I look forward to getting my hands on a cd and going to another gig so i can sing along with the masses. Great night defo worth the 15 euro.

Highlight of the night for me was Delorentos (again). Jove are not a band that I'd be a fan of but they're very good at what they do and I can see them doing well.

Sorry i missed delorentos as i think theyre rather good. same goes for jenny lindfors. I arrived in the middle of 66e, never heard them before, singer went out of tune a few times, must have been an off night. Never heard them before either but thought alphstates were great, the sound was terrible for them, whoever is responsible for the sound at that point must have been having a laugh. really disgusted at that after payin 14 euro i expect all bands to have a decent sound from the engineer at least. was pretty drunk by the time jove came on but liked it alot, much better than the stuff i'd heard from the website, the live setting seems to suit them better. They certainly seemed to be having a ball. overall the main complaint was the soudn quality, nice atmosphere, good bands

I saw the police drag a (drunk I assume) northern Irish guy out of his moving Merc as he tired to get away from them on the corner of Dame and Georges Street at about 7PM, gotta love paddy's weekend.
