ok folks... picture this. youre being held down by two rather aggresive looking body building type persons. and a third person has your mp3 player in hand and is threatening to delete your entire mp3 collection unless you pick a favourite christmas song...a serious situation indeed what would it be??? For me, it would be Bing crosby and "white christmas". Although the gift grub version of "do they know its xmas" deserves special mention

'christmas wrapping' by the waitresses - does anyone else know this song? I also like the original version of the band aid song.

The Muso in me says ' Just like Christmas ' by Low. But I've always had a ' childhood giddyness ' thing for ' Last Christmas '... Incidentaly, Ponyclub do a great version of ' Driving home for Christmas ' for free d/l on Ponyclub.tv

Yeah, Fairytale would be a favourite. How long will it be before George Murphy attempts a cover...with a luke kelly voice of course

Don't want to be predictable but without a doubt for me it is U2's cover of "It's Christmas time (Baby please come home)" that they recorded in 1987 for a charity album. Utterly brilliant. Listening to it you'd never in a million years guess that it was recorded one sweltering July evening in Glasgow. eoghan

Fairytale without a doubt and in answer to the quesiton, 5 minutes before I finally snap and take the talentless little s**t out. Other mention, Elvis - Merry Christmas Baby.

Mary Margaret O'Hara's version of "Blue Christmas". In fact, everything on that EP. The Phil Spector Christmas album. "No Christmas" - The Wedding Present and... Fairytale of New York.

I love that Waitresses song too. My all time favorite would probably have to be "O Night Divine," the best rendition of which I heard by an untrained, imperfect young woman at church. Bowie and Bing Crosby doing "Little Drummer Boy" is another big fave.
