    i don't know that one...

in truth, i don't listen to that much radio... but the only shows from the past couple of years that have held my interest seem to be the JK ensemble on lyric and that sunday morning show that pearl does on phantom...

Off the Ball on Newstalk. Music wouldn't be a feature, but it's still a radio show!

I used to like Donal Dineens show on Today FM, but the shifted it a bit too late into the night, don't even know if it's still on. Of the non-music shows, Radio 4s news quiz is always entertaining, sometimes listen to it on the web.

I'd also like to try having Larry Gogan do the the just a minute quiz live, continuously, 24 hours a day, presented by larry himself, no stand-ins. He'd either die of exhaustion or I'd have definitive proof that he's a cyborg. Either way, it's all good.

Dineen's show is still on & still excellent. Non-music show for me has to be the Premiership Live on Today FM.. worth listening in just to hear Moooikal McMullen's ridiculous south side accent. (Last time he was in a creche, he wrecked his car, loike!)

probably AAA - Edel Coffey on Phantom. I generally love the music she plays.

that said, I couldn't live without the Sunday Show/Marian Finucane on Radio One. If that went it would probably be the one I would miss the most.

i haven't heard dineen's show since it shifted to the later slot a few years ago... but i'm sure it's still great... edel plays some good stuff but there's too much dross mixed in with it to keep me tuned through the whole programme...

Donal Dineen's 'Here Comes The Night' is probably the only reason to turn on the radio.

Another vote for AAA on Phantom, keeps us ticking through work every day. Good music, decent interviews, gig announcements etc.

That said, I don't bother listening to much radio outside of work, so who knows what great shows are yet to be discovered.

I'd listen to Home & Hosed on Triple J online when I get the chance, but not the same since Robbie Buck moved to primetime. I'd do Robbie Buck I would.

"Just A Minute" on BBC Radio 4.

(I know that's not an Irish radio station, but it can technically be picked up on "the Irish airwaves", so can it count?)

I dont listen to radio outside of work either. When my co-workers are 'tolerent' enough to allow it I listen to Edel Coffey. Shes very likeable and has a great taste in music. The only drawback is the amount of rubbish monotonous performances and dull artists blowing their own trumpets, but I suppose this goes with the territory of giving Up&Comings a spotlight. No doubt Id bore people if I was interviewed!
    I really like John Kelly but I fear the diversity of his show would probably send my colleagues into discombobulation.. Havnt heard this song 7 times today, D O E S. N O T. C O M P U T E .

I feel for ya - last office I worked in had TodayFM on ALL FUCKING DAY. I couldn't take it & left after 2 months.. I was that stressed out I was actually planning to assasinate Ray D'arcy. (Fix it Friday.. "Dear Ray, Do spiders have eyebrows?")

Then there's that pratt, Tom Dunne, who I'm convinced, basis his playlists on Steve Lamacq's show, only he uses the ones Lamacq did 6 months ago (but still says ridiculous things like "this is the 1st time this song has ever been played on radio"). Ugh.

Ironing?? Nah, do what I do and bring the washing home to Mammy every weekend, hells yeah...

Radio is dead to me though, not the same since Uaneen (sp?) died. I wanted to marry her when I was 17...

    Tom Dunne is alright..

D'acry represents a proportion of idiots in this country whose biggest worry is whether Surf do actually give you your money back ... he is appalling and plays nothing but f*ckin Mundy and sh*tes on about absolutely nothing. His views on the world could easily be confused with that of a teenager with a bad sense of humour. Today FM run with this formula of "the presenter is the show"..therefore almost every show is based around the personal views of the presenter...

I too spent three years in an office that ran like this.. Dempsey followed by D'arcy, followed by the "tits"..fenton and cawley..followed by Cooper....plus the dude who does the sport is not funny. Someone should let it him know this.

Three years?!! I'm surprised you didn't need therapy. Matt Cooper used to be half decent till he extended the show by an hour & started including 'light entertainment' pieces in with the current affairs. If I wanted that, I'd watch Sky News.

He know alot about music and has good taste but still I'm not a Robbie Buck fan. I also thought I'd never miss him but, since he's been gone there's feck all music on that show anymore. What's even worse is that I find Scott Dooley even more irritating than Mr Buck. Apologies for the Australian music related rant on an Irish music forum

El Duderino - I'm not a Dools fan either, bloody eejit, also can't stand Jay & The Doctaaa. Robbie Buck has gone mainstream as he's daytime, but when he was on Home & Hosed it was all just about decent interviews and good music. I'd highly recommend you download the JTV Vodcast with The Drones playing 'Never Gonna Change' on Robbie's show: http://www.abc.net.au/jtv/txt/2007/1890819.htm A few minutes of brilliance.

I used to be a devout listener to Gideon Coe on bbc 6music until that twat George Lamb took over his slot and ruined it.
Since then I sort of stopped listening to morning radio.
I completely agree with Parton's views on Dempsey and Darcy. The latter being so caught up in his own life that his show revolves around it. I. DO. NOT. CARE. WHAT. YOUR. DAUGHTER. DID. LAST. NIGHT. OR. THAT. YOU. GOT. INTO. A. FIGHT. WITH. A. MOTORIST.
Also, his listenership is made up of sycophants who spend €20 a week on texting the show with mindless and lazy requests and comments that are so awfully bad that it can only be for the cheap thrill of hearing their names mentioned on the radio.
There must be more to radio than this.

Ha ha - very true!! As for George Lamb... he might be idiotic, but he cracks me up, though I can see a time when it's gonna wear thin.. there's only so many "Shabbas" & "tramps" you can give out & only so many things that can be laminated!

Unless they're spinning the old Jamelia hit, that'd be Lupe Fiasco. I quite like it.
