Headliners: Kings Of Leon and REM.
Others confirmed include Ian Brown, Kaiser Chiefs & The Raconteurs.
What do y'all think of this?

Im probably gonna give this a miss. I would like to see REM and The Raconteurs though.

Rage would be full of 30-somethings, mostly married off & settled down, shouting to the chorus of "Fuck you I won't do what ya tell me" .... yeah, not till the next weekend anyway, when the missus makes them cut the grass out in the back garden & tells them to pick their underwear up off the bathroom floor & put it in the laundry basket where it belongs!!

    the naivety of youth...

you are right about rage against the machine though... very difficult to be excited about that or the rest of the line up... EXCEPT aphex twin who (even after all my moaning about all festivals being the same) should really be at electric picnic.... and possibly hot chip should be there too as they provide some fun... something it's impossible to experience at oxegen...

Saw Rage last month in Auckland, and to be honest, was well disappointed. Awful sound, tempo to all the songs seemed really slow, and there really wasnt all that much rage involved.

Expecting much better things from Pumpkins and QOTSA next month so fingers crossed. Broken Social scene tomorrow too. Cant wait!

I'd imagine the closest that most Rage Against the Machine fans get to raging against the machine these days is shouting at the photocopier when there's a paper jam!

*IT calmly explains that it doesn't look after ordinary photocopiers and tries in vain to explain the difference between a printer/document management system and a photocopier, gives up, hangs up, goes back to listening to Modeselektor while Jeremy goes postal, considers using cattle prod on Jeremy*

Has anyone mentioned the fact that Aphex Twin is playing Oxegen? That's pretty mad- can't imagine the young fellas who've just finished 6th year the May before and are gonna wear their Westmeath GAA jersey with the collar stuck up for three days will relish a bit of 'Windowlicker'. Maybe they'll just head back to the campsite wrecked out of their heads and steal from/run over peoples tents that few hours earlier...

    Spot on!

If Interpol, Kaiser Chiefs or Ian Brown WEREN'T playing, thst would be a worthy news story in itself! I see Chemical Bros, Hot Chip are playing also.

Yeah, It's really depressing to see the genius that is Aphex Twin on the line-up.How did they get him? Where the hell did he come out of? Poor old Richard D. James does not realise he will playing to a bunch of s**t-faced, sunburnt, straw-hat and GAA top wearin' slack-jacked, culturally clueless mulchies.

I like the way you're assuming there'll be good weather for Oxegen this year. Last year was the worst yet, unless you're into the whole Glastonbury Dunkirk spirit "the weather's s**t but we'll still have a good time" schtick.

I presume yr taking the piss - if not, then you're one of the most fortunate people on the planet, having not yet been subjected to their depressingly bad music.

You thought Coldplay were a poor imitation of U2 in 'stadium rock' mode? You thought Snow Patrol were a depressing version of Coldplay in 'U2 stadium rock mode'? Then think of an even more depressing version of Snowpatrol, with a pratt of a singer doing a poor imitation of Ian Curtis & you're almost there.

Yeah, I know - it's a horrible thought. The execution of it is even worse than that.

What do expect when you go round calling people "f**king pricks"? There's two types of arseholes - those who are out and out c**ts & those who are out & out c**ts, but seem to think that they're such w**kers, that it elevates them to the status of 'cool'. A laid back arsehole who winds up people for his own amusement falls into the 2nd category.

You're posting on a public forum, so I've every right to respond to yours & anyone else's postings. You started out as a f**king wind up merchant. Then you settled down & I began to enjoy your posts, but that latent rage you've building up inside of you obviously needs an outlet & as most of your type do, you do it anonymously on internet forums, taking it out on people who don't ask for it or deserve it.

You're a coward & a bully and if you think I'm gonna stand by & listen to that s**t without responding, you've another thing coming. You seriously need to grow the f**k up & get some sense.

you're making an awful lot of assumptions in these posts...

i called someone a "f**king prick"... strange as it sounds, i wasn't meaning to be particularly offensive... i hold no opinion of PARTON... i was only responding to his rather crude initial post... i will however, take the comment back.

...the person i see consistently causing most offence on this forum is your good self with continuing strings of vulgarity and unfunny jokes...

Don't try and turn this one round on me.. I'm definitely not the only one who thought your comment to Parton was over the top & totally uncalled for. There's no need for that s**te, whether you're trying to be offensive / ironic or whatever the f**k you think you were doing.

And I've never had anyone complain about my posts, apart from UnaRocks who objected to me referring to Jenny Huston as being tubby. And vulgar? Jeez - you're obviously more of a sensitive soul than I gave you credit for.

*Sighs* Any chance we could get back to talking about Oxegen 2008 now ?

Despite my reservations about last year's mudbath, I've given in to temptation and decided to go this year. Assuming I can get a ticket, that is...

"no honey, I can't go to bed, someone on the Internet is WRONG."

Saw the first press ad for Oxegen today. It launched this afternoon.

"if you get me talking about oxegen, you'll soon be wishing that starbelgrade and i start arguing off topic again..." - what's the point of negativity if it is not constructive?

This discussion is almost like the real festival. Fights, bad attitude... if the KOL were on in the background people could save themselves €220 and just log on here.

Cat Power & dEUS added, their management co's dropped the ball there!
Although dEUS played the picnic in '06 so maybe theyre just trying to broaden their audience

Cat Power and dEUS were offered more money to play Oxegen. Simple as that.

Big Bad MCD with all their evil money ... They couldn't possibly be playing Oxegen because it fits into their touring schedule. That's just crazy talk.
