its not management who sign off on it but the band's agent, the person who looks after booking gigs and tours. most of these, though, are in the promoter's pocket. the reason why MCD have been so successful in ireland is really down to how they have managed to get on side with almost every UK agent of note in the last 10 years. its why no-one else has been able to muscle in on their business - the agents know and trust MCD and will keep working with them.
of course, there is a chain (agent to manager to band) but i would say that most visiting acts are not overly concerned about irish ticket prices. there may be some exceptions but the bulk of them want to get in, do the gig and get out again.
as for prices, in case u havent noticed, Ireland IS a very expensive place!! ticket prices are high because insurance costs, production costs, living costs, hotel costs, food costs and transport costs are higher than in other places. its the price u have to pay for living in a booming economy.
