Hello folks

I am getting wed shortly, and was wondering if any of you have any suggestions for a first wedding dance tune? I know it should be special to me and the future wife etc...but i have spent an age trying to pick...Joe Arthur, Ron Sexsmith, Tom McRae and the like, all close to the wife's heart, but the lyrics are a bit on the sadder side of life.

thanks

Tammy Wynette "D-I-V-O-R-C-E"

I dunno, first dance wedding song is too personal a thing, I think you've gotta figure it out yourself.

But make sure you have first dance before you serve the cake, lest you have a vommit-fest on your hands.

cheers folks

Parton, the wife to be is panicing about orders of ceremony, flowers, shoulder shimmer glitter, the wee things ye put on the table for the guests that they forget to take and all those kinds of lovely things.

have half written a cheesy number (never written a tune before in my life), friend says he will record it and play it...not sure what to do.

will keep the ipod on shuffle for the next week and see what happens

thanks

Good luck with the wedding..!

It is a personal choice but I think "Wild Horses" would be lovely.

I'm having the same problems myself, getting married in a few weeks and we still can't decide whether to go with "Freewheel" by Duke Special/"Time after Time" by Cyndi Lauper and Sarah Brightman or (now for something completely different as they say) "Parachutes" by Something Happens.

I'd say go with your own recording though, I would if I could.

Made you look

Its an occasional conversation for myself & my lady, post a few beers of course.

She wants some Patsy Cline tune (apparently she has more than one !), whereas I'd opt for Springsteen's 'If I should fall behind'.

I'd suggest Corrine Bailey Rae's "Just Like a Star" and Sade's "By Your Side". (Call me a soppy git!)

Lads, lads, lads.....I can't believe nobody's suggested The Beach Boys "God Only Knows." Possibly the most beautiful love song ever.

My other choice would be The Pretender's version of "I Go To Sleep." Gorgeous song, great lyrics.

Congrats Folks - Mully, surely yours should be

"Don't wanna go home
Don't wanna go hoooooome
This is the best trip I've ever been on"

Peter, if you want a quickie, or even a fast song I'd go for Nick Cave's Breathless

It's up in the morning and on the downs
Little white clouds like gambolling lambs
And I am breathless over you
And the red-breasted robin beats his wings
His throat it trembles when he sings
For he is helpless before you
The happy hooded bluebells bow
And bend their heads all a-down
Heavied by the early morning dew
At the whispering stream, at the bubbling brook
The fishes leap up to take a look
For they are breathless over you
Still your hands
And still your heart
For still your face comes shining through
And all the morning glows anew
Still your mind
Still your soul
For still, the fare of love is true
And I am breathless without you
The wind circles among the trees
And it bangs about the new-made leaves
For it is breathless without you
The fox chases the rabbit round
The rabbit hides beneath the ground
For he is defenceless without you
The sky of daytime dies away
And all the earthly things they stop to play
For we are all breathless without you
I listen to my juddering bones
The blood in my veins and the wind in my lungs
And I am breathless without you
Still your hands
And still your heart
For still your face comes shining through
And all the morning glows anew
Still your soul
Still your mind
Still, the fire of love is true
And I am breathless without you

But if you'd prefer it nice and slow...........

By the time the best singer ever has finished crooning this into your lady's ear, she'll be putty in your hands. You'll never have to wash another dish again. And all the bridesmaids will want to shag you. I had to type all this out so I want an invitation too. :-)

I'll mail you the MP3 if you'd like to hear it

Mark Eitzel - Saved

Your warm embraces thrill me
In your arms I fall like a star
Rain or shine, come what may
In your arms the cold seems far away

And there's no safety in this world
I have no time for good luck charms
But I still long for your touch

'Cos I know I'm saved
I know I'm saved
I know I'm saved
I know I'm saved in your arms.

An empty heart is like an empty house
Filled with old ghosts and little else
And secrets that everyone but me knows
That without love, nothing grows

And there's no safety in this world
I have no time for good luck charms
But I still long for your touch

'Cos I know I'm saved
I know I'm saved
I know I'm saved
I know I'm saved in your arms.
In your arms.

I don't think about consequences
I only know what my heart senses
And it pulls me like an arrow straight to you, love
It pulls me to what is true, love

And there's no safety in this world
I have no time for good luck charms
But I still long for your touch

'Cos I know I'm saved
I know I'm saved
I know I'm saved
I know I'm saved
I know I'm saved
I know I'm saved in your arms.
In your arms.
