My name is Karrie (O’Sullivan) and I’m starting my second career following a long time as a horse trainer in Count Kerry. It seems I have a knack for picking industries that are very difficult to progress in, have long hours and are likely to cost more than I will ever earn. My influences are many but Rickki Jones and Joni Mitchell feature to whom I’m flattered to be compared with. I’m a big fan of Cathy Davy, Paddy Casey and Mick Flannery. My last 3 gigs were a charity gig in Killarney for the Jack and Jill Foundation, The Crubeen Bar in Cork supporting Mick Flannery and An Spailpin Fannach, Cork in a celebration of our family’s music tradition. I have a full set of songs for a live gig which I can play with a full band or one or two guitarists. I released a single, Karrie, “Have We Got Plans” in April which was picked up and play-listed by 4 local radio stations. It was also featured many times on the Alf McCarthy Late Date show on RTE 1. I have had a lifestyle piece done by a local paper The Kerry’s Eye and recorded in house sessions with KCLR fm and featured on Radio Kerry on the 11 to 1 Club with Francis Jones. The process of recording my first album involved me taking my lyrics and melodies to Chris Ahern at Scoil An Stefan Naiofa in Cork. who put on guitar chords and we developed it with session musicians from there. Pat Ahern then produced the album and it was mastered in Los Angeles by Killarney man Ruairi O Flaherty. The most upbeat radio friendly tracks to check out are: Have We Got Plans, Greener Grass, This Crush and Dopey Like Minds. The atmospheric tracks to check out for radio are: Hey Baby, Stay Away, and Elbow deep.
