Gig of the fortnight is... Uzi And Ari

Why?
Uzi and Ari are a 6 piece from San Francisco that reminds me at times of Broken Social Scene, The Album Leaf and the Postal Service if those bands had simply decided to put out their home demos. There's a really nice warm sound to their latest (third) album Headworms and with decent gigs being a little thin on the ground in January Uzi and Ari could be one of this month's better nights out. The Dublin date in particular should be good with Land Lovers, the Yeh Deadlies and Fiascothe new band from ex-Coldspoon Conspiracy (really wish that band hadn't split) singer Pat Cannon on the bill.

The likes of Deerhunter and Asobi Seksu might get most of the plaudits when praise gets dished out to the new wave of shoegaze bands to emerge in the past few years and it's unfortunate that Amusement Parks On Fire get overlooked because they're a wonderful band whose self titled debut album should be a must listen for those who like loud guitars washed out in a sea of reverb.
