| | Suddenly here they are! Guillemots - so great, you really doubt your ears while listening to their debut album. Every song on this record is at least very good, most of it splendid! They seem to make that original, incredible music as if they have come to us from another world.
01 little bear - orchestra, Fyfe's voice full of emotions, could be from an epic soundtrack, it's that grand
02 made-up love song #43 - unique, full of energy, this is the spirit of the summer
03 trains to brazil - a hymn with cult status
04 redwings - amazing, haunting, complex...thank you Guillemots especially for this
05 samba through the snowy rain - wonderful introduction to "through the windowpane"
06 through the windowpane - wahoo, what a spirit...congratulations guys, this ist just so so amazing
07 if the world ends - sad, aching with lyrics like "that if the world ends, i hope you're here with me i think we could laugh just enough to not die in pain"
08 we're here - unbelieveable song, right when you think now there has to be a weaker title, there comes a classic gorgeous hymn
09 blue would still be blue - almost acapella, pure melancholy, fair and beautiful
10 annie let's not wait - fast, inflaming, beach flair
11 and if all - short but still beautiful, what a transition to "sao paulo"
12 sao paulo - you get the feeling like they make music for dear life, it's like they try to put everything in this song, they couldn't tell us in the ones before...it's epic!
Guillemots's "through the windowpane - 10/10 - grand !!!

| | I saw them in Whelan's not long ago and thought they were dreadful - Admittedly, I wasn't hugely familiar with their stuff at that stage, but their "madcappery" irritated me no end. Put that drill away, boy! Agree that the new album is (mostly) great and looking forward to seeing them again shortly. The second half of Sao Paulo is marvellous in an everything but the kitchen sink kind of way.
I don't hear The Blue Nile similarities AT ALL though. Great as they are, The Blue Nile kick their ass. | | | |

| | Listening to them now - Youjustgottalove
"Breathe me away, breathe me back home
I can love you baby 'til the cows came home
- What's that noise? – Yeah it's the cows knocking on our door"
Hmm? Hmm? I think so.
