| | Crazy Brazilian bitches, Cansei de Ser Sexy, are a Chicks on Speed breed of loose electro - with a firm sense of humour..their single out at the moment is great - “Let’s make love (and listen to Death from Above)” - they've a video of their tune 'PAris Hilton' on their site too...!

| | I was actually going to recommend these over the w/e but forgot all about it. Their Sub Pop debut should be out next week and it's getting excellent early reviews. | | | |

| | Hmm. Sounds like a s**t version of The Rapture with Peaches/Avenue D i'm-a-woman-and-i-like-to-f**k-check-me-out attention seeking lyrics.
What am I missing?

IMO I think they are wayy more interesting than the Rapture. Their music is more dimensional than Peaches and not as overtly sexual - they're lyrics aren't exactly Oscar Wilde but more substantial than miss 'Impeach my bush'. Also this particular single has a kickin guitar break in it and you generally just wanna dance your pants off.... what's not to like?

| | Maybe I was a little premature in my dismissal, but it really caught me off guard when Leagues announced who it was after the song after having read such gushing praise. As I had listened to the song I thought it was just another group of hipsters with trendy haircuts jumping about in a debauched manner with their (post?)ironic dancey new/no/nu/whatever wave noise. rapture/radio4/!!! ....
That said I do love a little dose of cRapture every so often.
Might give em another shot when I just wanna dance my pants off, as you say.

| | the new Rapture album isn't great. Got a sampler yesterday. It's always a bad sign when the label send you a sampler and not the full record. | | | |

| | After giving the CSS album a number of attentive listens I've come to the conclusion that they're just a novelty band trying to break out of the novelty stamp. Sure they're fun but they lack substance and decent musicianship. Plus 'Alcohol' just sounds like they ripped off the Vines 'Factory' song from highly evolved. But let's make love is a fabtabulous song. | | | |

| | just because something is fun, has a sense of humour and pop smarts does not mean it is 'novelty'. | | | |

| | No but just because some twat from a newspaper gave it four stars doesn't mean its great either :P
Seriously though I didn't think that it is 'novelty' because its 'fun, has a sense of humour and pop smarts'. A lot of the songs had elements of sounds that really reminded me of ring tones that made me cringe. Plus there's only so much of the same subject (i.e. we're young and like talking about sex) in a whole album, I expected a bit more. I think Let's make Love is the best track on it and there's nothing there to top it. I've listened to the TRAMA label version and Computer Heat is pretty decent too, but I don't agree with the 4 stars, 3 at tops IMO

| | "No but just because some twat from a newspaper gave it four stars doesn't mean its great either :P" - nor did I imply that, I was merely pointing out the review and the starry verdict.
Anyway, Jim Carroll is not a twat, but that's besides the point.
