Just picked up a copy of "Hedonist" by Martin Solveig. The title says it all, there is hope for mainstream dance music yet. It's not just a collection of great beats and groves either, but really solid songs too.

'fraid not, well not full tracks anyway, but if you've got broadband, there's some streaming audio/video on his site http://www.martinsolveig.com/ - the track most worth checking out is "Jealousy", a fairly straightforward yet infectious disco-house number thats really topped off by incredibly energetic and powerful blues/funk vocals from Lee Fields that just goes right through you. Kind like how energetic James Brown is supposed to be. The video was on fairly heavy rotation on MTV dance* a little while back , so you might still catch it. *probably really uncool to admit regularly watching that channel in this indie-is-everywhere era I know, but hey, it's right next to MTV2, and.. er....
