I'll second that recommendation. 'Return To The Sea' came out of nowhere for me to become one of my most listened to albums of the year. Sugar Club gig was marvellous too...!

Two new albums have been written, first one due around October time. According to Nick notdiamondsanymoreubutIforgethispropername it'll be a big departure from return to the sea. I think it'll be a more consistant sounding record than return to the sea as Islands are a more stable band now in terms of lineup whereas on the first album they were basically a Montreal indie-supergroup.

I always forget his second name too.. I get the Thor bit, and I forget the rest. I think I have finally learnt it.. Thorburn? OK, makes him sound like a viking.

Hopefully they could get an album out before October...*ELECTRIC PICNIC WOULD BE NICE!*... but by what I've heard of the new stuff, and live in the Sugar Club, it'll be even better!

Are you chappies also fans of the Unicorns?

I think their very best stuff tops Islands' material but it's a cose run thing. "Who will cut our hair when we're gone" is a marvelous album.

Yeah it's easy to see where they're coming from. They both have brilliant catchy songs, but Unicorns are DIY and Islands are epic. Right now, it's 1-1, but all Islands need to do is release one more thing and they're winning!

It's a shame that Alden and Jaime are pretty much uninvolved with any musical projects right now.

You get the impression that Nick might be hard to work with?

Yes, definitely, but he's brilliant.. and all brilliant people are! But I think Jamie left to get married and move to Australia. And just saw this about Alden: "Penner now performs under the name Dub Intefadah and scored the soundtrack for the Indie feature film The Hamster Cage."

Sh'll look up that film!
