Captain Beefheart has some pretty class tunes alright - I got into him thru Robert Smith, who's a big fan..

Is the thread a "current listening" thread? If so... my album of the moment is Polar Bear's "Held on the Tips of Fingers" (the "token" Mercury Awards 2005 jazz nomination) - their drummer is one of the best drummers EVER to grace a kit.

Links; http://www.myspace.com/sebastianrochford
http://www.polarbearmusic.com/

"[The album] explores a mix of trance-like, long-note music over eerie, hypnotic grooves, full-on electronics and free-improv, melancholic songs, punky thrashes and some of the best two-sax conversation to be heard on the current scene." JohnFordham, The Guardian

"This is not nu jazz, acid jazz, Jamie jazz, Parky jazz, Brit jazz, beardo jazz,post-jazz or twee jazz. It's dream jazz." Paul Morley, Observer Music Monthly

I am currently enjoying Bruce Springsteen's Magic album.

Speaking of albums it took you ages to get around to buying, I finally got around to buying my FIRST EVER copy of "Never Mind The Boll*cks" last week. All together now..."get piss*d, destroy !!"

Rick James? Vaguely comical black punk-funk musician. Known for taking massive amounts of drugs and beating and torturing women. Big in the eighties.

Not my cup of tea.
