Good man yourself, Antistar. Unless of course you're not a man and it should be Auntie Star. The greatest band in the history of the world bar none. I'd rate Mercury the best of the three you mention - a classic. Eitzel is God, my favourite singer ever and a wonderful lyricist.

unicron's obsession has made me consider meadowlands on many an occasion - maybe this time... antistar, thanks - mogwai, amc and sun kil moon i would have a lot of time for anyway... galaxie 500 too
...pulp i never had time for back in the day but i think i'll be buying jarvis just to give it a fresh outlook
heard something by fionn regan and it was pretty good
after all recommendations, i think i might buy:
wrens - meadowlands
mumblin deaf ro'
jarvis
gavin bryers

in case you go hunting for the Jarvis one it isnt actually out until next month, just so you are not wasting time trawling for it, but it is fantastic, some tracks are Pulpish but mostly is a new sound for Jarvis, great album imho | | | |

| | Strongly recommend Pinetop Seven. Yeah they're what some would call 'Americana'. Contemplative, textured. Some exquisite arrangements in there. They've been around a block, 8 or so years of releases under their belt. Worth a whirl even if they occasionally mope on a bit. But they got something compelling going on. There's a good cross-section of free MP3s to download from their site:
