There have been quite a few Irish musicians (bands or solo artists) who have simply disappeared over the last number of years. Some have moved away to pursue their career elsewhere, others have packed it all in, while some have just vanished from our radars. Who are the one's that are missed and should return?

Always had a soft spot for "That Petrol Emotion" although i may be looking at their legacy through rose-tinted glasses.

I still listen to Broadcaster by Revelino every couple of weeks! Great album great band. I would have said Mexican Pets, but I believe they had a couple of one off reunion gigs while I was off travelling. My personal favourite Irish band ever, can't believe i missed em.

Never liked Cry Before Dawn, bad simple minds rip off. Didn't know Woodstar were gone. Petrol Emotion were great, I remember they blew the crowd and everyone else away at Feile. Where are Blue in Heaven? For me it would be Subteranians, great single, great live, really different, what ever happened to them? Also Hal and the Thrills........ well there is always hope they will dissappear.

They did. Their first album was great but their second (double-album) was not so great. I miss their previous incarnation The Plague Monkeys:Spine-tingling, low-key melancholy...if Carol Keogh's beguiling vocals didn't make the hairs on the back of yr neck stand up there's something wrong with you. God, they were good.

Sure was. He went to form Fatima Mansions after that. You should check out 'Lost in the former west' and 'Bertie's Brochures'. Coughlan is a genius.

Yeah, good choice. Had forgotten about them. Was CC's band indeed. Didn't he release a solo album recently? Anyone know if it's up to much or get a listen?

Dirty Beatniks - Possibly Irelands only decent Big Beat act? possibly the only irish signed Big Beat act, ever? "Disco Dancing Machines" was a great track and you can (legally) download it here: http://www.epitonic.com/artists/dirtybeatniks.html

I heard of a band called the Fatimah Mansions, met their drummer once (i think) never heard the music, but the name kicks ass (actually if memory serves, the beastie boys paid for them to record an ep or summat, so they must have been pretty decent, this could be an entirely different drunken conversation though)
