For all you dual music/football nuts like myself: go see this. The most mesmerising 90 minutes you're likely to spend in a cinema. Music by Mogwai. 'Noise Consultant': Kevin Shields. And Zidane. Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant.

even though I'm a football nut too, living in france I'm sick of zidane - his picture is EVERYWHERE, he's always on the news (last week he visited a school: it was a HEADLINE on the main evening news!), songs about him on the radio and as ringtones, huge billboards of his face around paris advertising an insurance company... he might as well run for the prseidency next year because it already feels like living in a zizou-dictatorship :D there is, of course, one truly great french footballer (philosopher/actor/film-maker) and that's eric.

apparently there's a similar early '70s docu-film following johann cruyff in an ajax match. now THAT would be brilliant!!!

Anyone want to argue that Zidane isn't the best soccer player the world has seen in the last 20 years. He is easily the best, right up there with Maradona,Pele,Cruyff etc.He is real genius not a pretender like Cantona.

Great film alright. Was a bit worried after the first 5 minutes, that the film would drag, but I really enjoyed it. oh, and Mogwai rock!!! As my mate said, "Zidane really deserves an Oscar for his first touch".

Mogwai post-rock. Yeah, I thought it might drag too but you get totally drawn in after the first 5 minutes, probably something to do with Mogwai's beautifully hypnotic score (score!! geddit?).
