Morriessey is already paying bleedin 50 times in Ireland this year. How many bands were there last year? Because that will have to be increased by 30%. Maybe there won't be another 'big' band, maybe they'll just beef it up with other small scale good bands. I have to say, apart from Arcade Fire last year, the best bands I saw at EP were ones I hadn't heard of who I stumbled (literally) across in the Bacardi tent, Lost Vagueness etc.

Not sure if YYYs are worthy headliners after just two albums. Still looking forward to seeing them probably the most. The best thing about festivals is discovering acts you normally wouldn't pay to see or would have heard of. But you always need a decent headliner to top things off. Last year The Flaming Lips and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds were top class.

I waited two hours to see the beastie boys play a gig in texas after just missing the Flaming Lips, there were about 1 and 1/2 thousand people there waiting but at 1.OOam this guy comes out on stage to say that the band had turned up!!!!! People waited another half an hour until he came out again to say really guys it's not gonna happen, they haven't appeared and won't be coming to play. (but I did get to see the flaming lips play a very small gig the next night which made up for it). So even if the Beastie Boys are lined up - who knows what will happen!!

Also - I don't see why the Super Furry Animals shouldn't headline. They were my highlight of oxegen's sunday last year when they headlined the rising artists tent. They were excellent!

Wasn't there three headline acts to each day last year? If so, that would mean that there are nine headliners for this year. With Massive Attack, New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Gary Numan, Basement Jaxx, Groove Armada and Blue Nile (if they are all in fact headliners and not merely signed up), that means there is a possibilty of at least two big headliners still be announced. So maybe we should speculate as to who they might be!!! Beastie Boys? Morrissey?
Radiohead???? playing in Dublin the week before it. Dublin is the last gig of the tour aswell so fingers crossed.

will gary numan honestly headline a stage?... i'm all for a bit of retro but gary numan was fairly 2nd rate in the early 80's - i can't imagine him being much better now... i checked out the electric picnic forum there and they were all getting their knickers in a twist over him... "i can't wait to hear tainted love!" says one... ...that kinda sums it up for me

I don't understand why people are excited to see Gary Numan either. Mind you I don't understand why people are excited to see Pet Shop Boys or why they were raving about Human League last year. It must be that whole ironic 80's buzz that seems to be so big in Dublin. Maybe Erasure will be anounced or Swing Out Sister or Curiosity Killed The Cat.

the 80s are cool, duh. I was laughing about the Gary Numan thing with a DJ friend of mine who is completely outraged at the fact Numan is playing. "HE HAS ONE f**kING TUNE" is what he said, over and over again. And it's true. But the 80s are cool, duh. However, the Pet Shop boy are at least prolific. And Being Boring is one of my favourite of ALL TIME EVA songs. So tharr ya go.

ah no in fairness - Gary Numan may have only one or two commercial tunes but for people into electro and synth stuff hes a f**kin pioneer man - well in terms of his earlier stuff and Tubeway Army n such like....and not just since The Killers decided to reintroduce a synthesizer into the fashionable consciousness.

in fairness, i hadn't heard tell of gary numan in about 20 years so since my last post, i've been doing some research... and general consensus seems to say that he is indeed a pioneer, one that was ridiculed at the time but is basically the uk's equivalent to kraftwerk... i will need to be convinced, however... people tried to tell me the human league were innovators, after all... ...as for the pet shop boys, they could go down quite well - they hardly ever play live and when they do, they put on a very big show... and they've loadsa tunes... wouldn't float my boat really but might be quite a happy vibe at ep... after saying all that, i tend to agree with stroller's sentiments though - the 80's revival is a bit of a red herring, especially if you were there first time around

well its not really an 80's revival for me - ive listened to Depeche Mode/ Joy Division/ Gary Numan (and lots of electro bands that have played synth based music right through the 90's up until now!) etc since my very early teens - but yea i know what you mean - there is a very fine line between tryin to be kitshy and just a plain ole cheese fest - and not in the good way.
