I repeat, anyone at Director last week? I quite liked em. Some of it was really catchy and belongs on the radio. I left thinkin 'they could be really big!' A bit of Franz, a dash of Kaiser, a sprinkle of Weezer with Neil Hannon controlling the wooden spoon.

Yep i was there. Seen them at Oxegen last summer and they were excellent, really excelled in front of a big crowd. Wasnt impressed with them last friday though, there was no variation in their set and the lead singers voice began to grate about halfway through. I agree that they have a great bunch of singles in the making, they need a bit extra on stage though, drummer was awful! The Immediate on the other hand were brilliant, such a talented and inventive band, they deserve to make it big time

Think you were looking at a very tired band on Friday night. It's been a hectic year for Director, first big tour with Hard-Fi, taking the whole enormity of they're deal and subsequent raising of profile. They are young band (yes, so are the Arctic Monkeys) both of whom have been really busy lately and are both knackered. Dont judge them on Friday night, but I would agree that they were pretty flat all round. I agree Norman Schwarz, they have the potential to rise above it. I think Re-Connect is a fantastic single.

Definitely. Also it was the most ignorant crowd ive been in for a long time. Seemed like everybody was yapping. The band mustve been tired cos they didnt seem to care. Got Re-Connect stuck in my head today. Missed The Immediate yet again unfortunately.

Agree too, i was this close to telling the two "ladies" in front to shut up, talked for the whole set of director, the WHOLE set! I mean, why did they pay in? They could have just stood outside and had a chat, grrrrr

Don't get me started LooseFir! I try to resist the fascist outburst as it simmer and bubbles but sometimes a gig can be ruined by twats who drink beer, chat, laugh loudly and generally behave like there's no-one on stage and they're just in a pub. Was surrounded by such tits for Sufjan Stevens in The Village and Iron & Wine in Whelan's. It doesn't matter at a loud full-band balls out gig but for the likes of SS and I&W it really pissed me off. Iron & Wine was the worst with these tools shouting "Jesus! Jesus!" at him. C'mon. It wasn't even humourous. All f**king night it went on. I mean, why pay €15-€30 for the pleasure of doing what ya could for nothin' at home or in the pub? Bit of kudos and respect for the artist who's on stage won't go amiss either. There's another extreme too of course like the time a mate of mine went to see Bonnie Prince Billy in Vicar St. and the "sssssssh" brigade were out in full force. He was driving so was on the minerals. As he opened his can of 7-UP some uber-fascist (not even i could aspire to these levels) looked crossly at him and went "ssssssh." Believe it or not even as his ice was melting and cracking in his glass he was getting dirty looks and the old "air out of the tyres" effect echoed behind him. That's just wrong. All that's reguired is a bit of respect!

I thought Director were excellent on friday. Also I thought the drummer was pretty damn good!! As for The Immediate, they have some good ideas and they're obviously talented as they can switch instuments(probably all went to music school together)BUT i found there show a bit disjointed with all they chopping and changing. Come on 3 different drummers with all different styles. It's never really gonna work. And the lead singer on the last couple of songs was just a bit scary!! As soon as Director hit the stage and played there first chord you could see a real band in action. Looking forward to the album.

Would have to agree with being annoyed by the talkative crowd. Will probably get in trouble for this but there was alot of girls yapping away throughout. Thought Director were Alright. Some really good songs which I'd say will make excellent singles. Got a touch bored by the end. Saw all of The Immediate's set. What a brilliant band. Songs stayed in my head all week. Great to watch aswell.I thought they were the better band on the night.Looking forward to seeing them headline their own show.
