Did anyone see Antony & the Johnsons on Jonathan Ross the other night? Boy George was singing with them and it all seemed a bit strange!! I must admit i haven't bought the album. Is it worth buying?

If you like Anthony's voice and the bordering on morbid lyrics, then yes worth a purchase. One of the only albums this year to stand out on its own. Boy George and Anthony actually cover John Lennon's classic 'Happy Christmas, War Is Over' on the 'HELP! A Day In The Life' charity album. So if you liked their appearance on Jonathan Woss, it's worth getting - plus the cash helps out War Child.

I love the album, think it's fantastic. One of my top 5 of the year I think.

Sadly, and it pains me as a massive Lou Reed fan and afficionado of Little Jimmy Scott to say this, no.

it's a good album but (surprise surprise) completely overhyped by now - his voice really isn't that good. musically and lyrically it's very nice. but it's not something that stands up to repeated listening. however, there's a swedish singer called jay jay johansen who sings in a similar style but technically much better - and his songs are better too. he has a brilliant album called 'whiskey' from a few years ago where he's this casanova-type character ('so tell the girls that I'm back in town', for instance, is one of the songs). well worth checking out.

Just think it's alright. Bought it on the strength of the Lou Reed track and to me that the best one on it.

for me it's an outstanding album, a real curve ball. Yeah, the indie kids won't get it, so what, f**k them. One of the years best, in my opinion, distinctive and provocative

I think it's a really good album and I'd recommend it to any one.

It's all interested stuff but a little unnerving, weird... can't quite put my finger on it sort of stuff.. if the question is 'Anthony & the Johnsons, yes or no?' I'd have to say, I really can't decide. Is it a bit novelty? Definitely interesting and original but really, really good?

I like the album, but it's not very easy listening - it's very emotional - you have to be in the right frame of mind to listen to it I think. But but a voice!
