To resurrect this topic... I was just in Canada and my mate there has become super-proud of his native land of late due to the large amount of great bands. He's a big Constantines fan, they live near him. Yesterday I listened to The Pink Mountaintops, from Vancouver, pretty cool. Also The New Pornographers from Vancouver (front woman is Neko Case). Apparantly a band called Sloan are a national treasure.

Stars are playing the Sugar Club soon. yay. I think we forgot the two Canadian's who actually BRING a lot of indie music to Irish people - Alison Curtis and Jenny Hewson. Must be something in those polar ice cap melted waters.

I think he's actually from Boston, He's mainly known as respected motoring journalist, writes for Auto Ireland, couple of newspapers I think and used to present RTEs attempt at a top gear type program called Drive.

Nothing random about it, the guys a pretty good at what he does, able to write good stuff outside of one specific area, even if he has occasionaly visited the dark side by contributing to hot press. I miss the river of soul too.
