| | What kind of record companies are you talking about? Small, indie DIY Dublin ones? Or something more monolithic? | | | |

| | Anything at all really, it's just for information, so if someone knows what their talking about and has some hands on experience that would do nicely.

| Ok man, you asked for it.
A freind is doing a write up on bands in Dublin, i thinks shes doing a comparision of some sort.
Anyway, i think this has the potential to get fairly sloppy so if you want to reply just e-mail me. thanks.
Has the music scene in Dublin changed much over the last number of years?
For better or worse?
What are the chances of a good band with originality being spotted in Dublin?
What is the best way for a band to go about it?
What’s the best route a band should take if they want to gain international success? (Go to Abroad or stay put in Dublin?)
What would the differences in the process be?
Is Dublin the best place to be in Ireland, if a band are looking to make it?
What should a band look for in a manager?
How does a record deal improve a bands career?
What are the benefits/drawbacks of an independent label?
Same Q of a bigger label?
Are we looking towards a time when there are going to be a whole lot more smaller independent labels and people doing it for themselves rather than people selling themselves over to bigger companies?
Is this a route bands should go down?
If a band has been playing Dublin and Ireland for over 3years, has a good following, no manager or record deal but believe in the music they play and feel they have what it takes. Should they(a) Stay playing the same venues again and again builing up there fan base or (b)Go Abroad with no real backing, and start from scratch again?
What kind of talent are record companies in Ireland are looking for at the moment?
Are there any magic ingredients that a band should have to propel them to the top?
About how many bands have made it successfully out of Dublin in the last five years?
Is Dublin becoming a harder place to break?
Has the last 5 years in Dublin been a better place to be for a band than lets say 1980-85?
A guesstimate at how many unsigned bands would play the music venue pub/clubs in a year? i.e. Whelans, Village, TBMC, Eamonn Doranns.
Are there talent spotters out and about in these venues on a regular basis?
What are they sick of seeing over and over again?
Dont know if anyone will have any input but if you do it wud be good.

cheers
