I wonder was yer man Thirwell an inspiration for Will Oldham ? He likes to do multiple permutations as well - Palace Brothers, Palace Music, Bonnie Price Billy etc. etc.
There was another band of very silly people in the early 80's who had a squiggle for a name as well. I think it was supposed to be pronounced Freur or something s**te like that. Not surprisingly it wasn't long before they disappeared into the obscurity they so richly deserved.
The Tragically Hip is a pretty cool name, though I'm f**ked if I know anything about their music. | | | |
