| | Dromed, being a big Ladytron fan, I would highly rate Roxy Music (which reminds me theres a big Roxy Music shaped hole in my CD collection). I even like some of Brian Ferrys more dangerously MOR moments. Apparently Johnny Greenwood from Radiohead played on his last album.

| | Binokular did you get to see Ladytron at Witnness this year... they played a great gig - it was in the bigger tent (can't remeber the name) and would have been better in the dance tent (sorry, warehouse!) or in the smaller tent but they still pulled off a really good gig, would love to see them play a gig here in the Village or somewhere. If you're looking for somewhere to start with Roxy Music there's a good cd called The Early Years that has some of their best stuff from as far back as 1972, well worth getting. Otherwise 'Country Life' is a good one (with a pretty raunchy front cover that looks like something out of the Face magazine) - 'The Thrill of it all' is an amazin tune on that. 'For Your Pleasure' is another good album, with another bloody brilliant cover and has 'Editions of You' and 'In Every Dream Home a Heartache', two fantastic tracks on there. Binokular, I love some of the later stuff too, I've no shame about that! | | | |

Does the Early Years have any stuff on it thats not already available on their original albums? Compilations are great, but when I find a band worth getting into, I prefer gradually accumulating their back catalogue, rather than buying a "best of" because If I buy a compilation I will probably end up buying the albums too!
Now the only thing left is to decide which album to start with... | | | |

| I think Snow Patrol are the greatest bag of w**k i ever heard,
They sound like every average poxy Irish band around,
Bring on something Different man all Ireland ever offers is the same boring Indie s**t, we need more of an industry in this country as any act worthy of recognition goes abroad and achieves it !!quote:

Cream - people know the songs but not the artists ie Jack Bruce who wrote Sun Shine of Your Love, White Room, I feel Free + many more.
Snow Patrol - I think Gary Lightbody is one of the finest song writers around and still they have a small following.
Red House Painters - being honest I can understand how if people find these guys too depressing but front man Mark Kozelek is a great song writer.
Acetone - unfortunately the lead singer commit suicide in 2001, a great song writer who was criminaly over looked.
Darius - His amazing version of 'Hit me baby' should go down as one of the finest solo performances.

Can't agree with that hammering of Snow Patrol, I think they're pretty good and a good live act too.
Now, not an under-rated band as such, just an underrated record:
Do any of you have "Come Down" by the Dandy Warhols in your collection? I know everybody knows them ever since Vodafone handed them a huge cheque for "Bohemia", but a lot of people I know are not even aware that their debut album exists.
I love it to tell you the truth, full of pumping powerchords and catchy choruses while its lyrics as usual, portrays them as the delectable bunch of hedonistic bastards they always were!!! In my view, that album does as much for them as "Bleach" did for Nirvana, college life would not have been the same without it.
A simple but very effective and seemingly not very well known record.

| | Well, I did say it was subjective Shauner, in my opinion Snow Patrol write great bloody songs albeit nothing ground breaking.
I think as a country for our size we have had an outstanding influence and success in world music.
Who do you think is under rated Shauner?
