Bonny Prince Billy - WHY?

you can't do that!....

Oh yes I can!!! And I did!!! I really don't get him at all.. I've no idea how or why people like him. It's just boring folky s**te to me.

you may have noticed that i'm a massive fan... it's not worth debating the topic i guess... you can have your opinion (although i find it strange considering you like smog)

Tis pointless alright... I'm not going to argue!! I wouldn't call Smog "folky" though - they do have an element of it alright, but they also remind me a lot of Velvet Underground.

depends which smog you go for...

...all i meant is that you must have a modicum of taste

starbelgrade you bring up some excellent mentions! some i disagree with, but it's all about perspective...I get really annoyed reading rave reviews of average Irish bands...I will miss mongrel...sniffle ;L)
my favorite irish band of recent years was Soviet Filter, and they broke up for some reason.
Bonnie prince Billy inspires the funniest reactions from both sides of that arguement, I like alot of the stuff to be honest.

Is it ok to say the killers? I ask simply cos I am unsure if they are respected or not. "Tranquilize" and "Jenny..." are great songs, driven by the bass, but the rest is boooooring.

Yeah - Soviet Filter were pretty good. The singer was working with Gizzy D from Analogue Mindfield a while back, but I'm not sure if anything came of it.

Bonny Prince seems to be a musical equivalent Marmite alright!

As for Killers - I quite like them... not a mad fan or anything, but they write decent enough pop tunes. "Tranquilise" is a savage tune though, it has to be said. The mix of vox & melodies with Lou Reed really works for me.

The Stone Roses - over rated jakey indie-disco dance tosh.

Editors - One band I would actually enjoy murdering.

99% of Irish bands - Top of the list at the moment are Coronas.

Manic Street Preachers - Piss poor pub rock.

Totally Agreed

And adding to todays list - Soungarden and Rage Against the Machine and The Fucking Blizzards. Oi! No!
