Can someone tell me who this prat is who hosts pimp my ride uk.

He's a skinny english guy trying to sound and dress like a black american rapper.

I laughed for a very long time after seeing it for the first time a few days ago.

Tim Westwood, a DJ who has (had?) a hip-hop show on BBC Radio 1 which was rubbish, but then again that probably just reflects my dislike for the whole "gangsta" rap thing he helped popularise this side of the atlantic.

From his Wiki page ... tells you all you need to know.

'He uses numerous sound effects in his show, including the bomb drop, air horn and spud gun shots.'

I think he is hilarious to watch. He was actually shot a few years back, which probably did wonders for his street cred

He's f**king great TV altogether. It's a pity people here can't appreciate rap music.

I appreciate some rap music, mostly older stuff, the odd modern track too, but I'm not big into it. What I really don't like the whole gun culture "Gangsta" stuff as typified by the likes of 50 Cent etc.

I like pimp my ride too, it's great TV even if the average petrolhead like me is sitting there cringing at some of the stuff they do in the same way that geeks sit in front of star trek pointing out the scientific inaccuracies.

Thats true about most of the commercial s**t these days, although Lupe Fiasco is fantastic. He's only new but he's very refreshing. I'm not all that pushed on Common meself

There's loads of good contemporary hip-hop out there, you're just not going to hear it on the radio that's all. I have to agree with whoever bigged up Lupe Fiasco and I got to stand up for Common. Be is one of the better hip-hop albums of the last few years and less we forget he's responsible for one of the best hip-hop tracks of all time (I Used To Love H.E.R. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sPodswonEo)

Common, Souls Of Mischief, Pharcyde, Blackalicious, De La Soul, Aesop Rock . There is a lot of greats outside the bling-bang side of hip-hop.

You are not really reading this...you are on Mars. Get off Mars, get off it!

Amen to that Diego. The quannum/soles sides compilations are pure class. Souls of mischief, blackalicious, J5, Dj shadow, Lyrics Born and many many more all working together on those albums

Yeah, have to say I much prefer the 'positive hip-hop'. My younger brother is a huge bling-bling fan, won't pay any attention to the above.

Each to their own.
