| Tim Westwood, a DJ who has (had?) a hip-hop show on BBC Radio 1 which was rubbish, but then again that probably just reflects my dislike for the whole "gangsta" rap thing he helped popularise this side of the atlantic.

I appreciate some rap music, mostly older stuff, the odd modern track too, but I'm not big into it. What I really don't like the whole gun culture "Gangsta" stuff as typified by the likes of 50 Cent etc.
I like pimp my ride too, it's great TV even if the average petrolhead like me is sitting there cringing at some of the stuff they do in the same way that geeks sit in front of star trek pointing out the scientific inaccuracies.  | | | |

Thats true about most of the commercial s**t these days, although Lupe Fiasco is fantastic. He's only new but he's very refreshing. I'm not all that pushed on Common meself

Yeah, have to say I much prefer the 'positive hip-hop'. My younger brother is a huge bling-bling fan, won't pay any attention to the above.
Each to their own.
