Any thoughts on the best most rocking IRISH single of 2003? I think the crayonZ "Bringing the Conversation Down" is superb along with "the Dillon Family Dancers" by the Redneck Manifesto (but I don't know if they released that) there are lots more but I'm a bit hungover this morning,,,

i really enjoy babelfish but would not give it the nod as the single of the year for me it has to be the 66 electric's 'brown bear' i thought that was class

the b-side of the infamous listo single pass the highs....."i hate", in my opinion is as good as anything ive seen come out of ireland in a long time....we all have mates in bands who release singles...and i know the black fella out of listo almost intimately..but that doesnt cloud my judgement......

nothing happens in babelfish land? 'tis worth another listen, they're a real interesting band .. as chance would have it (relating to a previous post) saw them play with the crayonz in whelans recently.. the crayonz were a couple of orders of magnitude of quality below them (b'fish) IMO; pretty uninspired stuff.

I'd have to agree with damo. Skylarking has been the best album of the year ... by far

cannonball - damien & lisa (2002???) hoops & the mafia - little ghetto boys july - mundy (if even for the sheer opportunism!) brown bear - 66 electric (any disillusioned radiohead fans should tap into this...)

I never liked Mundy until I heard Mayday and even then I was a bit half-arsed about his music - one good song does not a star make - or something like that (lol)....but I heard July one night camping in Glenmalure in the Wicklow Mountains in the middle of a forest. We were all sat around a big fire and it was blaring all over the forest - it was quite beautiful! and his voice is amazing on it - fair dues.

July was the song of the summer for me, fair play like. Heard the rest of that album lately and on the whole its very impressive.
