Went to see Laura Cantrell in Liverpool last night. Think she's playing Dublin next week. Would recommend her highly.

Saw her when she supported Dr Ralph Stanley, she's a fine country artist.

Saw her last night in Whelans - she was excellent. Never saw her before and was amazed by her voice - the simplicity and sweetness - have not the tremblin kind for a few years now and I don't think the production of the album (or her new one Humming by the flowered vine) really do her voice justice. Holly Williams, Hank's granddaughter supported her. She's good. The 2 of them finished off the night with a duet cover of Orphan Girl by Gillian Welch. It's an amzing song and their version was superb. Came away from concert with a righteous sense of indignation though - was a front of queue for albums and when Laura Cantrell came around the girl in charge of disks said to her that they had no change. Laura then said - I'll go back upstairs and get some. The girl then siad that they could generate some change as most people said they had enough. Plus she was only charging 12euro for her newest album. No artist as talented as Laura Cantrell should ever have to worry about change for her ridiculously underpriced album.....
