Gene Clark - No Other

I just adore this album. It came on my MP3 player on the way to work this morning and I didn't want the journey to end. Clark, of course, made his name in the Byrds but it's really this album that is his masterpiece. He spent a fortune crafting 8 tunes in the studio, making music he described as "cosmic country". Beautiful choral harmonies, a gorgeous lush sound and Clark's rolling melodies just make this album a delight.

Anyone else know and love this record?

And add to the list... albums that make you sigh with satisfaction when they pop up on your player.

I could never really get into No Other. I prefer White Light, but even then Im not enamoured with Clarks non-Byrds stuff.

I must give it another listen.

Well, I don't have an MP3, but:

Pernice Brothers: 'The World Won't End'

It's just lovely pop music, songs of heartbreak ("Five years, and it still hurts when I hear your name") and bleak humour ("Contemplating suicide or a graduate degree"), jangly guitars and catchy melodies and wonderful lyrics ("Throat open to the cut of winter / If only just to feel alive") and I'm almost swooning just thinking about it. A perfect album.

Nada Surf - Let Go or Josh Rouse - 1972

Both are albums i never ever grow tired of and always put a small on my face and give me a very warm happy feeling. I think Nada Surf are one of the most underrated bands around and having seen them twice this year i can testify to a fantastic live experience too. 'Killians Red' in particular is my idea of an uplifting sing along chorus without straying into 'light up,light up....' territory. 'Blonde on Blonde' too, great song about a great album. If you like to sing along, nod your head and tap your foot this is for you!
1972 gets me from the first line - 'I was feeling 1972, grooving to a Carol King tune' - goes through 70s pop-rock with 'James' and 'Love Vibration' and finishes off in superb fashion with 'Rise'. Great, great album which i have managed to persuade so many friends and colleagues to buy and the man is a great live experience too. Get it listened!

You are not really reading this...you are on Mars. Get off Mars, get off it!

I love the start of Boy Least Likely To's album which starts with Be Gentle With Me. It's a perfect sunny pop song. Sadly I don't enjoy the rest of the album quite as much.
