| | Before it's extension I'd have said Vicar St hands down.
Now I'm not so sure. | | | |

| | Big fan of Vicar st.. Love the warmth and the layout. Also, have a strange affection for the Temple Bar Music Centre, when the gig is good, it's a great venue (saw Snow Patrol there LAST YEAR!! which is crazy considering their new global fame). How about a thread for worst venue? The Village perhaps?? | | http://itsanationaldisgrace.blogspot.com/ | |

| | I would have to 2nd the Village as the worst venue in Ireland. Horrible horrible place, too hot, too full, too awkward to get to the bar.... | | | |

| | some of my personal faves are,
For small gigs:
Conolloy's of Leap is pretty mind blowing.
Clere's in Kilkenny is a really atmospheric room.
Midsize:
Fingers crossed for the revamped roisin dubh.
Dolan's in Limerick is pretty decent.
Bigger:
vicar st. but a ticking air conditioner in the balcony almost wrecked one gig for me.
biggest: all sh1te. | | | |

| | Anyone know what the plans are for the POD/Redbox at the moment ?
Large sign out the front saying there is going to be a new Live Music venue.

going to be a 2000 capacity venue called THe Electric. First acts booked for it are The Cult and Level 42
Best venues:
Dolan's (Limerick)
Empire Music Hall (Belfast)
Vicar St (Dublin)
Spirit Store (Dundalk)

| | i like Whelans, Vicar St, Crawdaddy, TBMC and the Ambasador.
i'm beginning to despise the Village and am not a big fan of the Olympia either.

| | i'll third the village for worst venue.
i've stopped going to gigs there now after being so disappointed by the state of the place ruining several should-have-been-deadly nights(mogwai,grandaddy,interpol/ff...).

| | I agree with all of Pilchards
Best venues:
Dolan's (Limerick)
Empire Music Hall (Belfast)
Vicar St (Dublin)
Spirit Store (Dundalk)
Although a lot depends on the talents of the soundman.
Whelans and Village and Dorans(venue?) ain't great, again,
maybe you could blame the soundman. Or, possibly, the band.

| | I currently have a soft spot for Crawdaddy provided it ain't too packed.
I'd love to meet the retard who designed the Village. 'Here's what we need. Put the stage here and put the entrance right beside it with the stairs to the toilets at the other side of it. That'll work!"

- 'Hey boss, I think some people might still be able to see from the back!'
- Hmmm, you're right, let's lower the ceiling another 3ft too! Excellent...

| | Has anyone else noticed that the back of the Village stinks too? First time I noticed it, I thought I was beside someone with a very passing interest in personal hygine. Moving around, I realised the place is particularly funky (in a bad way). | | | |

Shut the f**king place down!!!
The most ineptly designed venue on the planet. As noted earlier, main entrance to the right of stage and a huge walkway to the jacks on the left??? The f**k's that all about??? Sound is so crap too.

| | The Spirit Store is my favourite venue in the world. If there is a band you REALLY like the spirit store is the place to see them. Exellent sound. Exellent vibes. Exellent. | | | |
