I'd just like to inform everyone that the most exciting Irish band in a long, long time is here...Director. To cut a long story short, I came across their video for 'Reconnect' on Channel 6 and wss suitably blown away. I thought they were American or British such was the strength of the song, the rather fine and highly polished video, the excellent ever-so slightly geekish image a la Weezer/We are Scientists et al.They've even got the band name right ('The'Blizzards, 'The' Immediate, 'The'Thrills, 'The' Frames,'The' Chalets take note) My jaw dropped when I found out it was Director at the end as I've noticed their name bandied around on Cluas before as ones to watch, etc. The next major band to break out of Ireland. Just watch. DISCLAIMER**** I am NOT a member of the band. I do not know any members of the band or are related to them. I don't work for their record company. Honest!

I dunno, sounds like something important sounding in a Joy Divisionesque kinda way that you'd go with it 'cos "Editors" was taken. I fully expect to see a band called "key grip" at some point in the future. Not actually heard anything from them sadly, so can't really comment about the music. I've not got Channel 6, only available on Chorus/NTL apparently and due to being pretty far from any large town, my only option is Sky Digital.

Yeah saw them supporting Spinto Band, you wouldn't think they were a new band, i think they have that whole sound nailed and were fairly slick. For me they're like Editors/Interpol in that they lacked a bit of emotion for me but certainly theres lots of people who are into that sound, I agree they look like they have whats needed to do well alright.

We've already got "Blonde Redhead"....a little lighting gag there. I saw Director in Whelans a while back & expressed me admiration on these hallowed pages. Across their set I heard some of that Joy Divisiony aspect, also some Kaisers, Weezer and a, mainly from the frontman, some Divine Comedy. It's a fairly intense song but I found most of their other stuff more melodic and catchy. With the right exposure, they could do really well methinks. Also, yeah Channel 6 are doin well with the videos. Hard to go to bed when Night Shift is on. The next one'll be crap....OK after this one....
