| | Since its friday, how about some fun.
If you had the chance to plan a mini festival in dublin, what theme would you pick and which bands would you put where.
For arguments sake, im suggesting 2 acts per venue. And im suggesting the following venues because of their size and prominence.
The Olympia,
Whelans,
Vicat St,
TBMC and
Crawdaddy.
Each of these are of varying size and therefore, I suppose, try match the band to the venue.
For me, it would be a north american theme, and my line up would be:
Crawdaddy:Damian Durado to open
Evan Dando to headline
Ive seen dando in whelans/village and both were great. Id love to put himself and Durado into a smaller venue and see how it would work.
TBMC:Radio 4 to open
Grandaddy to headline.
Ive seen granddaddy in the TBMC before and it was great. Havent seen Radio 4 before but it would be my venue of choice to see them.
Whelans:American Analog Set to open
The Walkmen to headline
Havent seen either of these yet, but i reckon that could be a quality gig. Love both their albums. Id let the walkmen slip till one of their tracks was used in the interlude music at idlewild last night. Right size venue in my opinion ( the analog set did play there last year i think)
Vicar St:Kings of Leon to open
Interpol to headline
No comment necessary in my opinion.
Oylmpia:Ben Kweller to open
The Arcade Fire to headline
Id love to see ben over again, and i thought his support slot for the kings of leon there was class. Havent seen the arcade fire yet, but their album is stuck in my head. Quality stuff
So, what d'ay think folks? Would you go ? Which would you buy for and which would you skip assuming they were all reasonably priced.

| | Klootfan, I'd go to all of your gigs. Really good line-up there.
Right now I'd go for the indie rock/pop theme:
Crawdaddy
The 747s
The Redneck Manifesto
- There would have to be some Irish bands in my mix. The 747s are really great ska/punk/rock band and are playing the Sugar Club soon. So I'd have them support and The Redneck Manifesto to headline because they are a kickin live band (and were class in Crawdaddy last year).
TBMC
Heartless Bastards
Drive-By Truckers
- Bit of a southern rock twist to it all. Heartless Bastards are a new band with a good debut out called 'Stairs And Elevators' plus they've been supporting Drive-By Truckers across America so it's only fitting. Drive-By Truckers would headline because they are one of the best bands around at the moment and would put on a memorable show.
Whelan's
Bloc Party
The Shins
- Bloc Party because they were amazing in this venue in January so would love to see them again. And The Shins because missed them here last year, a cracking band and would be a good headliner.
Vicar Street
Belle & Sebastian
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
- These are two great bands so the support slot would have to be extended. Belle & Sebastian have a new double album coming which is great and we're excellent at Oxegen last year. I've always wanted to see Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds even more so since the last double album and their Electric Picnic performance is one to watch out for.
Olympia
The White Stripes
Kings Of Leon
- Would be good to see White Stripes in a venue like this, playing alot of their older stuff too. I'd have them as support because I reckon Kings Of Leon would be a great headliner.

The Olympia
Radiohead doing "Kid A" in its entirity supported by Swedish jazzers EST
Whelans
Bruce Springsteen (can u imagine it?) supported by Sons & Daughters (saw them last night supporting Idlewild - left before Idlewild even entered the building. S&Ds ROCK - pj harvey fronting the bad seeds
Vicar St,
Kraftwerk supported by Four Tet. I'd love to see someone like kraftwerk here and the new four tet album rocks. death to folktronica!
TBMC
The White Stripes supported by a reformed for the night Whipping Boy
Crawdaddy
Kanye West with John Legend supported by Motown's legendary Funk Brothers house band and the Memphis Horns. Yowsa! | | | |

| | I'd have a Hair Rock festival.
The Olympia
Sisters of Mercy
with support from Poison
Whelans
Def Leppard
support Slade
Vicar St,
Hawkwind (the obvious highlight of the festival)
support Mr. Big
TBMC
Bon Jovi
support Van Halen
Crawdaddy
W.A.S.P
support from Cinderella
What a festival. Could you imaging the amount of denim jackets with back patches and home-made art work on them. The tight jeans, the pristine white boot runners with the toungue lifted out to cover the bottom of the stone washed wranglers. The smell of hairspray. Brilliant.
