I was once at a wedding around the time Ireland had to travel to play Liechtenstein in a qualifier. Anyway the wedding band decided to play that song and instead of singing "we're all off to Italy", the voices in their heads told them to sing "we're all off to Liechtenstein". This was many many years ago but it was so cringeworthy I can still remember it clearly.

| | The most commonly abused one has to be 'OLE OLE OLE'. It was even in full flow the other night after the Ryder Cup.
But the best one has to be about Jason Lee. When that Fantasy Football show used to be on friday nights, they started to take the piss out of the Forest striker Jason Lee. And then the next day when Forest were playing Chelsea, the whole crowd started singing the same song 'He's Got A Pinapple On His Head'. Classic!!!

Not very patriotic I know, but a great tune.

| | Very catchy tune alright Jules, good video too...not sure which version of the video had the Germans with "Kuntz" on the backs of their jerseys but it was funny.
Ever hear the one about Manure's Tim Howard? Something like this:
"Tim timiny tim timiny tim tim terroo
We say 'we love you'
He says 'f**k you'"
Hilarious

| New Order "World in Motion"? Not their best moment by any stretch of the imagination, but good as sports tunes go. England seems to have a bit of a monopoly on the good football tunes.
I vaguely remember seeing David Baddiel talk about Three Lions on telly, apparently the Germans liked the song so much, they wanted to use it too, completely missing the signifigance of what the "Three Lions" bit meant.
Three Lions was pretty good as Football songs go, and it was cool they way it was as much about following a team when they're losing as it is when they're winning, but I can't really think of any sporting tune I'd actually want listen to.
Most of the decent sporting songs didn't start life that way. "Here come the good times" - A House, "Put em under pressure" (can't remember if that was the actual title) - Nicked that riff off the Horslips "Dearg Doom" and even "You'll never walk alone" was from a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical!

| | Or what about the one where John Barnes was rapping in it? We should've presuaded good auld Terry Phelan to do the same as that would've been a certain anthem. | | | |

| | Actually, have any of ye heard Gazza's "The Fog on the Tyne"? It's possibly the worst sports "anthem" ever! It's just pure awful. | | | |

| | do teams still make FA cup final singles? these are the worst ever. no fan sings them!! but worst of all are the videos - your football heroes in a studio looking mortified, clumsy and completely uncool.
binokular is right - england team songs tend to be cool enough ('world in motion' is great); kerry fans sang 'football's coming home' at the munster final at the same time as euro '96 (and we'll be singing it again on sunday...).
