| How do they get away with it, the Britney Spears, Pink, M&M, etc channel? It pisses me off to no end, they call themselves a music channel when all they play are the songs that the big record companies want played - back handers all the way. Its a form of brain washing, of course the kids are going to like such s**t music when its pumped in their ears 24 hours a day.
When was the last time they played Jeff Buckley, Stone Roses, Ryan Adams even Radio head.
God I hate that channel with a passion, why do I watch it? Because the hurt feels good.
Feel better now, form of therepy. MT

| | Television, the drug of the nation. This is one of my favourite quotes and pretty much sums up my attitude to MTV. We can spend our time talking about record company conspiracies and backhanders, but the reality is that if people turned off, they'd change their playlist quick enough.
"Television is the first truly democratic culture - the first culture available to everybody and entirely
governed by what the people want. the most terrifying thing is what people do want. " - Clive Barnes

| | too true - so many of us flick on to mtv in the vain hope that they may be showing an old unplugged or something of merit - but alas its all choreographed beach-parties or grown men in shorts wearing their caps on back-to-front...
VH1 outstrips it by a mile...

| | The problem with MTV is that it's too american, in so far as it will only screen whatever is "cool", not musically gifted or crafted. The channel is one big advertisement. Eminem gets a ridiculous amount of undeserved coverage, R&B is non-stop plus all the dilly-dallying girl bands or pop divas. It's all about commercialism and that's why it sucks.

| | that show 'alternative nation' used to be good, even though yer man toby was an arse...and 'brand:new' used to play some great videos, even though yer man zac or whatever is another arse...now it's dedicated almost entirely to skate-punk-shorts'n'puke-teen-dick music...linkin park and the like, you know the score...best thing to do is not watch mtv in the first place and enjoy no disco, jools holland, and, well, that's it...listen to the radio for christ's sake! | | | |
