Is it just me or does 'Neon Bible' sound alot like Prefab Sprouts Springsteen influenced 1988 album "From Langley Park to Memphis" ?

Am I the only finding the recent resurgence in 'Springsteen Influenced' bands a bit tiresome ?

The backlash starts here !

No, I think its cat too, and its not even Springsteen's overall output which is being drawn from, its just the 'Born In The USA' album and the title track of 'Born to Run'. Canny commercial move though, some of those pastiches have done great business

The Springsteen track (...television blues) is my least favourite song on the album. Not so much that its Springsteeny, I don't dislike him, but it just doesn't really go anywhere. You're right though, there is a fairly recent upsurge of Springsteen influenced songs lately.

Tell you an intersting coincidence there, couple of years ago I got an mp3 of arcade fire covering 'State Trooper' by The Boss, now if you put on "...Television Blues' and attempt to sing the following lyrics to is you will find they fit quite well :-), by the way this is the companion song to 'State Trooper' on 'Nebraska' which contains the following line common to both songs, "In the wee wee hours your mind gets hazy, radio relay towers lead me to my baby"

OPEN ALL NIGHT

"Now, the boss don't dig me, so he put me on the nightshift
It's an all night run to get back to where my baby lives
In the wee wee hours your mind gets hazy radio relay towers, won't you lead me to my baby?
Underneath the overpass, trooper hits his party light switch
Goodnight good luck one two power shift"
