They already have a Rory Gallagher place and a rather nice monument to the guy, and when I lived there a Gallagher themed Cafe (near where the lobby used to be, don't know if it's still there). I mean don't get me wrong, I like the guy, but surely cork has other musical (and non-music) heroes?

I reckon we should call it Sultans of Ping international airport, not cos I'm a fan, but it would be funny when tourists ask you for directions.

What has Cork airport got to do with Rory Gallagher? An absolutely ridiculous idea. He was a great musican, not Tony O'Leary.

About as much as John Lennon has to do with Liverpool Airport.

I dunno, Cork Airport seems like a good enough name for an airport situated in Cork.

I'm hoping to get a taxi rank named in honour of my musical exploits, well maybe a bicycle rack.

Yeah, just down the way from Mary Black Alley. Actually thats reminds me, on the way out of Temple Bar that leads onto the Ha'Penny there's one of those Rock & Roll blue plaques. Its up so high that its hard to read though, does anyone know who's it for? I wonder are they secerately embarrassed of whoever it is, so they put it in that awkward spot that nobody can see.
