Only surprised by the time of it, I thought they'd get another album out.
The always seemed like a band that was made up of lead singers, each wanting a go. A split was inevitable.
I think in 2yrs time, there will be 3-4 bands around, with people in the audience saying "Didn't he used to be in that band ... The name escapes me. They were going to be huge .... AAAArggh, Its going to wreck my head for the reast of the night now"

Although I wasn't a fan (I think I was the only Irish reviewer to give their album a less-than-adoring review click here ) it seemed that they would be fairly successful abroad - I know that in France they had just sorted out a label and played some very well-received and well-attended concerts...
...although 'existential differences' sounds like something they may have picked up in some Left-Bank intellectual cafe in Paris 
I think Mully has a fair point - maybe a band needs a leader, a focal point. In early communist Russia they tried having orchestras without conductors - it was a disaster.

| Good band, but spot on about the front man starring role point,
very talented guys and the music was enjoyable, live shows were fab.
i think they will all show up in different outfits down the line, one of the few bands with no dead weight...
on another note, the angels of mons.....
i remember the singer, prat. thought he was the next thom yorke...
extremely boring band who had grand delusions....
"what ever happened to the angles of mons?"

they were meant to tour in the US a few months back, but they day before they were due to leave one of the lads' fathers had a heart attack and died. Losing the tour was a serious blow to the band cos they'd been working up to it for some time, and the guy whose father died opted to pack it in altogether cos it was a bit much for him. After that, the momentum was gone and they called it a day. | | | |

| Ah its always a shame to see a band call it a day just like that. Real pity. I was never a fan or nowt but they were doing realy well and seemed like nice blokes. Shame - but im sure we'll see them all in new projects soon.

| I am gutted that it's over for them! I was a big fan. Their live shows were mind blowing. And off stage they are the soundest blokes you could meet. The only consolation is that they will excel at whatever they go at next. All four have serious talent. I believe Conor is going to keep writing and playing in some form and that in itself is something to look forward to.
Sickened but there are exciting times ahead!
